Well today has been dogs of course and the parrot. Then on our walk Fallow deer, greater spotted woodpeckers common Jay common crow ,chiffchaff ,blue tits, great tits, buzzards and herons and the usual cows sheep horses...
I am not sure what I saw, today, but it was certainly a few small birds [sparrow size] flitting through the woods, and being chased by a large dark bird, which could have been a crow?
I saw some bees.... Yesterday I kept seeing cardinals every time I looked out the window lol they were extremely bright red.. beautiful. I was wondering how exactly they would be able to blend in with all the green I have in my yard if trying to hide..... Need to get them some red plants!
It's not so much what I see at the moment but what I don't. All the recent rain seems to have got rid of the butterflies so to see one or two at the moment is a lot. The birds are doing well though. I don't recognise many but I loved their song as I was walking this morning. And the two nice Beagles were out in the garden of the little bungalow I pass where I walk.
After the poor showing of butterflies recently I was very happy to see a beautiful Red Admiral today. A Painted Lady too! My day got better too as, when I had just left one field path and was half way across a farm gravel road and about to cross over the stile into the next field, I noticed a squirrel coming along the field parth toward me. I froze and it did not notice me. It came to about 2 or 3 feet away, saw me, then gingerly crept past. After passing it scampered off down the farm road at a faster pace. Out in the countryside here they tend to keep their distance. In towns some can be hand fed but that's not really something I agree with.
I saw a bunny yesterday. I can watch them from my kitchen window sometimes while cooking or cleaning dishes. Sometimes there will be 3 together, but they all roam around a lot, so it's usually 1 or 2 on average.

It used to be like that with my back garden. Then a new family moved into the house next door and they got three cats. Sadly no more bunnies

I have recently seen a few grey squirrels. I have seen a lot of birds. I have also seen my favourite white cat, Elizabeth. She was having a nap on my dad's sun lounger yesterday: she spent a good two hours sleeping.

Noooo!
I chase cats away from my yard for this reason. They now run quickly through my yard just to pass, but they don't hang out anymore lol I feel kind of bad doing that because I also like cats, but I don't want them to kill my bunnies!

Yes I am the same here. The family think I hate cats but it's not the case. The local cats would love free acces to the garden as my neighbour feeds the birds so well there are lots and lots continually flying around. I went to put something into the compost bin yesterday and could not remove the lid without getting a dirty hand as it is coated in bird poo. I don't need to fertilise the apple tree lol

lol you'll need to start wearing a gardening glove when dealing with your compost bin ;p Birds sure love pooping on everything we need to touch.

I think they deliberately target handrails. I find that out very often. You would think that I would remember but NO.....
