I've been working on the computer. I have also had my daily shower and drunk my caffetterie coffee. I gave myself a manicure today, using a deep berry colour.
Getting ready for Easter Sunday. I've been wanting to try something with Meyer lemons. A couple of weeks ago, I ran across a cake recipe which calls for a homemade Meyer lemon curd as well. I just finished making the curd. Now, it needs to chill for the flavor to develop before baking the cake.
Sounds good ..I made curd myself too. But Ive never heard of Meyer lemon here?
I am broke. But I've paid the bills, so there are few issues. Still, I have been reckless with my money. I am very worried about my money situation.
When that happened to me, I just closed my purse and buy only when desperate. I eat whatever is in the house, I cut open 'empty' toothpaste tubes, and make similar savings. I buy nothing really. I turn down the heating, and wear extra clothes. I do everything to avoid being overdrawn or need to borrow. I just needed to wait until my paypacket arrived at the end of the month. I have never liked robbing Peter to pay Paul.
It usually worked for me, and that month taught me to behave more sensibly.

It looks like I'll have to do the same. I just don't have the money to buy everything I want. Bills are more important. THANKFULLY I know to always pay bills before going shopping. But this month I've been cut short. I guess I just have to try to pay the companies their money by asking them to take out the money when I get paid. I can't pay anyone if I don't have enough money in my account. Thankfully paying a week later isn't too bad. But I will NEVER allow myself to get cut so tight again.

I just got my phone number transferred over to the new cell provider. Yay! I guess trying it before the long weekend was the problem?
Also went grocery shopping and actually took two kids with me - I'd gotten used to shopping alone and having all the work to do. The boys were good together and not too hyper as we shopped, so I might not have to do one at a time as I used to do pre-pandemic. Times changing as they age!

I have never been short in terms of being poor but growing up with little spare cash we needed to keep a close eye on spending. I was brought up not to buy things on HP or have a credit card debt. One of the things I do is try to keep one eye on the past and although money is generally not too much of an issue now it does not pay to get complacent.

I am with you on credit and debt, but I suspect, I may have got it wrong. Maybe I would have had an easier time by managing my debt in a sensible fashion. I do have the mental ability for that.
I used to have a clerk with a total credit card debt of just under 3 times her salary. She was completely out of control, and wasn't helped by her husband who was just as bad. They had this stupid mentality, that if one spent, so could the other...
Credit card debt has always scary and so easy to get. After paying interest a few times I realized that I needed to control my spending and make sure I can pay off the entire balance each both avoiding interest charges. I have been doing exactly that for years now.
As children both my husband and I came from very poor families. It was always a case of counting pennies and luxuries were few and far between.
But both sets of parents were of the opinion that if you couldn't pay cash for something then you couldn't afford it. And none of them ever got into debt, something that has been focal in our lives too.
I have always been proud of the fact that while we might not have much, not the newest car or the most fashionable clothes what we have is 100-percent ours, paid for in full and we owe no one a penny..( excluding the mortgage of course)

Not owing ANYONE money is wonderful.
1. I am glad of the fact I owe NO ONE thousands of pounds.
2. I don't spend thousands of pounds.
3. I never use a credit card.
4. I don't have an overdraft too often.
5. I don't borrow money from lenders.
6. I also earn money fair and squarely.
7. I pay ALL my bills like clockwork.
8. I pay back money I owe within one to two weeks in cash.
9. I keep track of my spending with an EXCEL Spreadsheet.
I am so strict with myself that even being £10 overdrawn scares me. I just don't usually spend. I must NOT buy anything until my bills are all paid this month.

I do the same and it's paid automatically each month. There must be a lot of people who don't though otherwise credit cards would be less of a winner for the banks
having a bad day, but this is me we're talking about- so is it any wonder?
had no sleep again, making it almost 7 weeks
was told by my postman this morning (out of all people) that it's been ages since I've had a good day, so may as well give up. (charming!)
breakfast didn't really hit the spot- I had pineapple and a mint tea
checked emails and watched some tv, wet myself 3 times today all ready (3 times!), clicked my back, and that's me for the day- having sausages for dinner and the thoughts all ready making me sick, so great. not eaten good for a whole week either.
