Hubby and I moved a 60-inch quartersawn white oak rolltop desk so that we could plug in an extension cord behind it. Ugh! Even after removing all the drawers and most of the stuff on the desktop and top, we had a heckuva time moving it only a few inches. It hadn't moved since I bought it over 20 years ago.
Hubby chastised me for not doing it all that time ago. I just plugged in a desk lamp. I told him that, at the time, I already had an office with a desk, computer tower, monitor, and printer...he's since taken it over...and I'm tired of using a recliner for when I work at home. Geez, some people's children! LOL
It's not made to house a monitor (some were), but my work laptop will fit. I just need to keep it plugged in because it has a bad battery.
If it's any help. We have laminated floors, so if we want to move furniture, we put a towel under the legs, and slide it along, rather than lifting it. So much easier. Our dog's fleece blanket is so handy for this job too. She always wags her tail when she sees us doing it lol
I went to work, got through three meetings then felt so sick so I came home. First time I stayed away from the computer more than 6 hours when I was awake.
I never measured the time I spent online at work, it's too scary.
Have to bring my car in for it's one year maintenance. At least it's included in my purchase so it won't cost me anything.
Mine is due for its annual check up ( certificate of roadworthiness) soon as well. Not free...
This Is another thing I find strange here. Wherever I have lived you needed to get your vehicle inspected and it had to pass before you could drive it on the roads. here in Florida they don't inspect them at all.

Good tip! I'll have to keep that in mind when we put it back in place after an eventual remodel. I was thinking about gluing felt to the bottom. Unfortunately, it has been sitting on a thick, densely piled, carpet with thick padding underneath. So, the desk made quite an impression over time.
To add insult to injury, hubby slid the carpet gliders under the desk upside down (while I lifted each side). So, when we were trying to move it, the side of the gliders that was supposed to be in contact with the bottom of the desk was gripping the carpet! After many minutes of huffing and puffing, trying to slide it back, I had to lift the sides again so that he could flip the sliders over. I was not a happy camper!
I now have no carpet in this house, make it so much easier to clean.
Indeed. We have all laminate downstairs. Upstairs we have carpet. Hoovering takes half the time downstairs, and a quick run over with the mop, and the place looks shining and clean.
Our last house had a really expensive kitchen carpet. After a very thorough hoovering, it looked adequate.

Thank you, kjay.
I have drunk my caffetterie coffee, had my daily shower, put on a load of laundry and am browsing the Internet. My favourite website has to be "Cupcakes and Cashmere". Here is the link:

I filed my tax return online today. Whew, done for another year! My deductions aren't needed yet again, but if they carry forward enough years, it's gonna be a sweet refund when I'm actually employed again. Until then, my taxable income comes from the province so that I can be home to teach my guys and manage their special needs treatment. And this tax return will help determine the amount of government benefits we get to ensure there's enough money to raise the kids. So, a good day's work for me!
I've also been doing a bunch of research on glycemic load and which foods have the least. Probably need to get a diabetic cookbook or borrow from the public library until I get familiar with any tricks I don't already know. I did get an app that will help a bit, but there are gaps in the food database it uses. And... I've confirmed through Facebook messaging that our city's food bank is pretty much useless on this score - people don't donate the healthiest food. I was hoping maybe they had a gift card program for diabetics and hypoglycemics. Maybe I can get the doctor working on that when I see him next? It helps that he's not originally from here, so he might be able to push for better services like he's seen in other cities!

Weve just filed our tax too.. I like to be on top of it.
Im not sure about you but here if a doctor prescribes a special diet there are tax breaks for it. Also if you're on assistance there are often extra allowances for special dietery needs. Its worth asking about you could be missing some extra help.

I have been self employed since 2008, and I still find sending off my taxes stressful. I got a £100 fine this year. *****
Had a nice walk this morning even though it was cold.. We saw a newborn cow. So sweet, he was a little hairy highland one sticking close to mum who is built like an amoured truck!
We kept a respectful disatnce..
Laundry and bread making today. Yesterday I reduced two boxes of memories, cards, journals etc down to half a box. Its emotional but we need to do it so Im only keeping the special things.

This is a very good idea! By editing down your items that spark special memories you're keeping hold of items that spark those special memories. It is much better to have one plastic bin of items that mean the world to you, than have 5 boxes of stuff you barely know the contents of.
There are so many memories and mementoes that I have lost through moving 4 times. No longer having those items, I only have my memories. But what wonderful memories they are.
Anyhow, don't let those items get lost Iike I did: keep your nostalgia.

I have one week to =go until my cruise so I will start seriously packing today. I need about a week to make sure i have everything I need and want to take with me.

You're right to prepare for your cruise now. That way, anything you're missing you can buy online or go into a clothes shop. Definitely sort it sooner rather than later.
Back to me: I have had my daily shower and put on a load of laundry. I shall be going out shortly, too.
It was an irritating visit to the supermarket yeasterday. Apart from the fact that prices are still rising at a rapid rate a product the supermarket appeared to stop stocking a few weeks back has suddenly re-appeared in abundance on a re-organised aisle. In the interim I have ordered what should be at least a years supply of it at higher price online. It is on offer in the supermarket. Some you win, some you lose as they say

Im off to Germany this week , it will be interesting to see how prices are there.
Ive seen that in Russia things like potatoes and onions have gone up to three times what they cost a few weeks ago. Import products have been hit hard by sanctions too.
We havent seen any direct results from the war yet but since the new year some things like tomatoes are a silly price considering we grow them just down the road. Of course petrol is the big issue here because even though the oil price has fallen again the price at the pumps remains horribly high.
