I've felt ill these past few days. Worried I had COVID-19 I did one test [out of a seven-day-dose test kit] and the result was negative. I do NOT have COVID-19, after all.
I am very relieved, for obvious reasons.
I think many people forget about other illnesses at the moment, with the overbearing publicity on covid. Don't forget that because we are out and about again now we are as likely as we ever were to catch the usual illnesses. Many of them have very similar symptoms to covid.
This ^ is true... OH is off to the doctor today. I phoned an hour ago and asked to make an appointment.. They ask what the symptoms are and I told them same as last time he had a chest infection wheezing breath, coughing with phlegm, breathlessness and pain in the chest..
Instant reply ...has he been tested?
Yes.. hes negative and really his symptoms dont say covid .. He has an appointment at 12 today.

For a lot you can't tell the difference between Omircron and other more common illnesses. Even the common cold.
Yesterday was very here and there for me. I first called at the post office and taxed my car for another year. Then I wanted to call at the Range in town to get a couple of storage containers. There is a Morrisons supermarket near there so I thought I would call there for the few mid-week things I needed rather than the usual supermarket I visit mid-week. I first picked out the best couple from the miniscule offerings of bananas, chatting to another customer who similarly was not impressed. Then I went to the bread and took one look at the price and promptly walked out. They have re-organised the shop since I last visited some while ago and now it looks like a motorway service area, with all it's bells and whistles, with prices to match. I did re-fill with petrol there as I needed to be sure of getting some. My usual Wednesday supermarket had none last week. After visiting the Range I did go to my usual - Asda. It was much cheaper for the things I wanted and ( ) they had cheaper petrol too! Even later I checked my petrol receipt and found, after further investigation, that they had re-organised the store points cards at some point. All the points I had were gone! A new system had been instigated, supposedly at customer request and all had to be done online or via an app. At least I relaxed and cheered myself up a bit with painting with the art group afterwards.
Morrisons is now last on my list for shopping! Gripe over lol
I'm sitting outside the vet again. Just as we finished shopping this morning my son-in-law phoned and said the cat was having difficulty breathing. I literally dumped my shopping bags in the garage and dashed to their house .. both of them are in tears but we're at the vet and I can see them through the window saying goodbye..
This afternoon I will take him on his last journey to the crematorium..

I am not a great lover of Morrisons, and never ever buy their fruit. It is tasteless.

I am trying not to think about pets. My step daughter's dog bit her yesterday and broke skin. It need to go. But she loves him, and I am not sure if she will have him put down.
She is frightened of him, and if he doesn't know already, he will soon work it out. He already tends to bully her when she is not well, and sh suffers with fibro, so that is not rare.
Unfortunately, this was not helped by her adopting the new wave training method, where dogs are only treated kindly.
Dogs have t know who is boss, and you don't need to be cruel or rough, to do that. I have had a dangerous dog in the past, and I can see similarities in him.

Im not one to instantly say a dog has to go when it bites... There are too many other factors envolved but if you honestly think he is dangerous/unbalanced then its not fair to pass that problem to another family.
Ive been bitten a couple of times but its been through fear ( very sick dog at incompetent vet) and when trying to remove (what they thought) were food items. That was just a nip.
Both times out of character behaviour..
Both forgivable.
But I do believe in the positive method with a dose of common sense and leadership.. Mums word is rule.. NO smiling mexicans allowed here.

Thats how I raised my children too..
It's not the first time she has been bitten, just the worst. Normally the dog warns her and she backs away from him.

Oh dear that sounds like a very unhealthy relationship.

I was not there, but it sounds like a dangerous dog. Unless she is teasing the dog and deliberately riling him up, then that is a problem. I don't think the dog should be automatically put to sleep: I think the situation needs to be thoroughly investigated before any such action. It may be she's grabbed the dog by the tail and yanked it backwards. Or she has leant in far into the dog's face... There are lots of potential senarioes.
She needs to be truthful about what she did to make the dog bite her. Because I think it is likely she has stirred up the dog somehow.

I think you may have picked up the wrong end of the stick.

I can understand this. Dogs are a pack animal and I presume that if they see their chance they will push to become pack leader.
When I was a child / teenager we had a Corgi cross Jack Russel. Under certain circumstances he could be agressive although I seem to think that it was more defensive agression more than anything else. As a pet / house dog he was good and never bit any member of the family. It was just a case of watching people when we were out trying to be friendly and stroke him etc. He was reasonably well behaved on walks although occasionally barking at some other dogs, never people. We never put up with any nonsense from him although he would react if he thought he was being treated unfairly.

We had a corgi when I was a kid. It used to guard my mums bag or shoes. The only way to get past was to fetch a broom, and make out the broom wanted the shoes. That made the dog attack the broom, and while she did that, you got past.
My mum said we shouldn't tease the dog with the broom.
I know we are way off topic but Ive never met a nice corgi...
The pack theory and the dominance one are both outdated and at least one of the authors regrets publishing his much misused and misunderstood work. In fact the alpha dog theory came from work dont in the 1930s and 40 with wolves... Can you imagine if someone told you they were going to practice 1930s medicine on you...Most people would run a mile and so we should from those training methods.
However the whole furbaby can do no wrong approach is also really badly flawed. It leads to pampered spolied pets who like spoilt children kick off when they dont get their own way.
positive re-enforcement is great but it must be used properly..
