The large chicken pack I received was already open.. so I had to throw it away because who knows how long it was not sealed. I was able to get a refund, but now I have to actually go to the store myself during my work break today. We also have to pick up dog food and soil. Lots of stops today if time permits... depends on traffic. Might have to do some things other days if I can't squeeze it all in during my break.
I have two meetings today, will be almost two hours eac, then I have to decide with the contractor if I want to do concrete or asphalt the driveway, I have a very long driveway.
The house will be done in less than three weeks, the built-in furniture and closet organizers are about to happen, the mosaic tiling for the bathroom will be done soon, they are on the third bathroom now, one more to go.

As I mentioned in another thread, my doc and his partner moved to a concierge practice. One of the perks I pay for is an annual wellness check (in addition to an annual physical). I thought I was going in for just the fasting blood draw. I also underwent vision and hearing screenings, body composition analysis, EKG, regular blood pressure check, as well as blood pressure checks on both wrists and ankles. After that, I came home and baked some donuts.

Annie, I am sure you can't wait. It seems like an eternity since you started.

I bet you are feeling very excited, the finishing post in in sight after such a long time.
We went out with the dogs thins morning and I think we saw the flipper of a seal.. It looked like a flipper , it was bigger than anything Ive ever seen in the lake before and whatever it was left a huge splash.
Turning and coming over the bridge we then spotted three young women in bikinis swimming in another part of the same lake...

My dad hadn't turned on the water valve of my new washing machine: I wondered why it wasn't working! But he's due to fix it soon. Then we are going food shopping and going to the library.

I've put on my first load of laundry: in my new machine. I shall put on another load after that.
Yesterday I went food shopping and also went to the library. I am going to start reading the first book this evening: I am forever reading. I also love reading women's magazines: I read 100's of back issues of Cosmo in the 1990's. Unfortunately Cosmopolitan has lost its soul now: it is now targeted for young women, whereas 90's Cosmo was for the older woman. I don't read Cosmopolitan magazine anymore for those reasons.
This morning I have drunk my caffetterie coffee and am airing out my apartment. I have also posted on Facebook, which I always enjoy doing.
I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!
I keep busy.

I have been clearing the garden. My hands are stinging a bit from the nettles and I have been attacked by the brambles but a good part is now cleared and I am now enjoying my coffee.

Coaxed my refrigerator out of its cubby, took it apart and cleaned it, inside and out. Did the same with my range. Tomorrow, I get to scrub the oven racks...oh, joy!

There's always one.
You just can't resist boasting about your lifestyle.

I'm not trying to be patronizing, but why didn't you use garden gloves?
I write this because - as a little girl - I fell into a ditch full of stinging nettles. I cannot remember it for the life of me, but my sister swears it happened. I am glad I don't remember, though: it must've been very painful.
Our new washing machine takes three and a half hours for a cycle.
Apparently that is the new eco friendly style???
Three and a half hours! How can that be eco friendly?
It stops a lot, and allows the water and soap to soak in as opposed to the original method of physically mixing it in. It also weighs the clothes, and works out how much water to use on every cycle.
I certainly can't complain about the level of cleanliness of the finished article.

Anyhow, please wear gloves and save your hands.
Thanks for the concern Candy I do and was wearing my garden gloves but they are very clumsy and it is not easy to use my scateurs wearing them so I was taking one off at points. As I was in the middle of a really rough patch with some of the nettles and brambles actually towering over my head it was very easy to get accidently caught by them. The brambles are of a type so vicious that I had to be careful as the larger thorns would easily pierce my gloves if grabbed so I had to proceed very gingerly. I got off very lightly as I was protected well. You are doing well to escape the odd sting or scratch.

My washing machine behaves in the same way too and takes quite a while but I have never measured how long.

That sounds like a large garden?
No, I only have a small garden but the area behind the shed and fruit cage has not been very accessible as the garden waste wheelie bin, which I just use for storage, blocks the only easy access route. I do have a moveable wire fence to limit cat access too so, and with a few other things in between it makes for a number of barriers. From the other direction the bees in the composter this year have denied access so it has all got overgrown. It is not helped by the fairly open wire fence at the bottom of the garden with waste gound beyond overgrown with brambles which are seldom cut down and vigorously invade.

That sounds like a difficult garden to manage. But you're doing well in spite of your difficulties.
I do think once you are finished with that patch of garden, your next aim is to maintain it. Once you are through cutting away the brambles and weeds, you're set.
I am also impressed with your gardening abilities: I have zero ability with gardening. However, I DO have potted plants in my apartment and regularly re-pot them. I love plants, flowers and nature in its whole. But - as I live in an apartment - I don't have my own garden, which is a shame. Still, I regularly change my vase flowers and have around half a dozen potted plants. It's the only nature I have where I live.
Anyhow, jen: I hope you get your garden finished soon.
We rejected the eco-friendly washing machines. We actually worked it out that if they take three-and-a-half hours they won't take less power than our Miele toploader does on its own economical wash. It also uses a system of turn once or twice then stop wait then turn again once or twice it doesn't run round and round continuously like many washers. I know Miele is expensive but I like their washers.
But we did buy why a dryer that has sensors that detect the amount of moisture in the clothes and stop the cycle when the clothes are dry and not just run and run until the end of a program.
Has anyone seen or tried one of those machines at auto doses the soap so you can never use too much soap in the machine?

Brambles area bitch. Deep rooted, and fast growing..... I have a go at ours every year, but short of digging out the entire root, they are stubborn.

I have been to the volunteer bureaux today. My advisor has decided - because of my computer skills - I'd be best in an admin role. I am very happy about this. I may well be placed in a shop back room, doing data input and whatnot. But that is better than no job at all.
