I watched the (NETFLIX) German re-make of “All Quiet on the Western Front”. Although it lacks character development, there are some interesting subplots that get explored. And the opening sound-track is compelling.

The movie reveals the horror technology contributed onto the WWI trench style battlefield; aircraft, flame-throwers and especially “tank warfare”.

With modern America being so politically divided, war movies may not be popular but this remake may be worth the time I think.


I did like the WWII tank movie “Fury”. The ending was somewhat hokey and unbelievable, but Brad Pitt’s character seemed to have the proper mix of kindness and battlefield ruthlessness. Hopefully, we all can agree NAZI’s were bad.

(While I do find Hitler fascinating, it is the conditions (social and political) that contributed to his rise to power that I think are most important lessons.)
