I was alone and watched the movie, "The Danish Girl". It had a few interesting scenes early on but kind of wandered. I don't follow trans-gender issues much if at all. But it didn't bother me, the movie.
Seems the male character wanted to change and become as close to a woman as possible, even to his tragic demise. More recently, trans-athletes want and do compete with biological women. These athletes don't appear to want to create a third gender of their own. I think they want to be considered women too.
So, do trans-gendered people want to preserve the "only 2-genders" fact of life or not?

I found the film interesting. I didn't like the transgender though. I thought they were rather selfish, and thoughtless towards their partner.
`@a-muppet I havent seen the Danish girl so I cant comment on that. Personally my experience with my trans foster child was that she had a clear idea of who she was from a very young age. Selfish ? Yes I suppose I could call her that if I was feeling mean, but I think for her far better terms are determined and single minded. She knew she would have to fight for who she was/wanted to be and she wasnt letting anyone stand in her way. I remember her total elation when she got her first passport in her real name ..It opened the world literally.
Do you watch Holby on BBC? they are running a transgender story at the moment.. Id seen this actor ( Tyler Luke Cunningham) in the fantastic Boy meets girl with Rebecca Root (also trans) and I didnt realise he was trans until I read about it last week.. Really makes no difference hes a good actor and I like him..
I have no issue over the transgendered, I have a couple of friends who are, and I am particularly fond of the one whose wedding I went to a few years back. I think she is awesome. Despite being over 6 foot, she always goes out in full makeup with an elegant look about her. She tells me she is always getting called at for being a tranny, but she still refuses to hide behind a pony tail look, with no make up and a baggy sweater.
I avoid all medical progs - too close for comfort.
@a_muppet my foster daughter has grown into a beautiful confident and self-assured young woman. She finished college has her own home and a partner with whom she is very happy.
I don't see her very often these days but when I do she is always full of smiles and very content with the person that she truly is.

The sound of a proud mum.
Happy and content for them, is all that we want really.
I am not much of a beatles fan, if they are on the radio, I enjoy listening, but I would never sit down and listen to them. But I did fancy this film, as much for the sci fi concept, as anything:
I added Warrior Nun to my list on Netflix.. I added it just because I find the concept pretty funny. I will let you know when I get around to watching it, but do not hold your breath ;p

I will wait for your review. I have heard it is like buffy

Is it me or has NETFLIX deteriorated? Could be Britbox has removed enough stuff to have an effect. I find I'm watching quite a number of things a second time.
With foreign offerings, do you prefer sub-titles or those that are English dubbed? I find when the lips don't match the wording it is annoying. On the other hand, with sub-titles I can't read a book and watch too.
I don't care for subtitles or for English dub either. But if there was a foreign movie I wanted to see bad enough I could tolerate the stuff.
I dont mind sub-titles Ive grown used to them now.. Dubbed is often awful.. Germans are the worst sometimes even using an adult actor for a childs part its like hearing a 40 year old voice coming from a 6 year old..yukky..
I did see a good series on Netflix called Bonfire of destiny which was set loosly around the event of a terrible fire at a charity bazaar in Paris 1897, to be onest you hardly noticed the dub

The only time I use subtitles is when I watch a British movie lol... Just kidding.

I find the best way to find stuff on netflix is to use google: eg What is the best film on netflix uk?
I don't mind dubbed stuff sometimes, but they usually are pretty bad lol it adds a cheesy factor to it because the actors just don't sound believable to me.
I also don't mind having to read subtitles, but I don't like it when they move too quickly. I was watching a comedy show and the words on the screen were so fast that I could hardly make it through half the sentence before they were onto the next one. I had to shut it off... lol it made it really hard to follow.
I love reading Dutch attempts at English subtitles they are often funnier than the film or show itself. Once with a old Sherlock Holmes film a character remarked upon how lovey the roses in the garden of the hostel were, the lady owner of the hostel remarked oh u should see them in the summer when all the ramblers come out...
The subtitles translated as oh I love your roses. Yes and you should see them in the summer when all the Walkers come..
Another instance was watching a comic doing a stand-up routine, he was making a joke about being expected to know things that he couldn't possibly have known and said sarcastically...oh yes because I am a visionary..I am Subtitles read.. of course because I am a veterinary..
And my husband wonders why I am laughing like a drain...

A movie I watched last night was a 2002 product as I recall, "Last Call". The movie recounts F. Scott Fitzgerald's last days spent with a young secretary assisting him with his latest novel attempt.
The movie is OK...Jeremy Irons can only do so much.
But it does contain a cute scene where the secretary asks Scott what he thought of her writing. His reply is; "It stinks. Use more nouns and verbs and less adjectives. It will help make it seem more real." Of course, hurt feelings. Scott goes onto say; "you want to be a writer get used to being treated like one."

I never thought of that. Thats a great idea. Thanks Cherry.
Ive just finished both seasons of the Umbrella academy.. The story was ok if youre into sci-fi superhero etc etc ,, But the thing I loved was the sound track..
The choice of songs was brilliant including this Swedish version of Adele's Hello
On Tv Im watching BBC's A suitable boy set in India in 1947 it might just as well have been set yesterday... The tensions are just the same and the struggle to find a person to love who will be acceptable to family is still as hards as ever.
I personally finished The Vampire Diaries. I did not like the ending too much.. it felt very rushed in the last 6 minutes, and I felt they didn't show 'enough.' It was otherwise I guess a happy ending, so that is good at least.
I have now started The Originals. It is a spin-off of TVD.
