I watched two more Star Trek movies last night, so I've passed the halfway point in this summer viewing.
The teens were able to finish Rings of Power Season 1 on Thursday, and we watched the trailers for the second season. Just a little longer to wait for that to start!

I have a few months of free AppleTV+, so we've started Wondla together, and I've also tried For All Mankind and Foundation on my own. Looks like I'll probably end up watching mostly For All Mankind and just a little Foundation here and there unless I get really hooked past the first two episodes of Foundation - the fall of a galactic empire is dark stuff, so not as appealing to continue watching back-to-back episodes.
I don't remember all that I put in my list to watch on Apple, but Time Bandits is one title. It remains to be seen how many months we'll actually pay for once our free months are done...
Our Internet was out for a bit on Saturday, so I checked a stack of DVDs I'd left at the TV stand, mostly series on the go and a few to watch over again. (Handy to have something not requiring wifi!) I chose Trek movie #8, which I always enjoy. Just five to go now!

I enjoyed For All Mankind, but Foundation was such a disappointment after reading the book. Get yourself a copy of the Foundation trilogy by Asimov. They are not long books, but they are really good.

Was the show a disappointment because of plot changes? How did you feel about the look of the show? Having seen a bit so far, I'm wondering if it'll help me visualise better when I dig out my copy... I hadn't gotten that far, set it down, then packed it away. (Tsk tsk!)

"Heaven Is Waiting" 2011 is a deep yet light hearted movie about bereavement, loss and hope. It warms the heart and is slightly sad but there is a ribbon of hope throughout the film.
I never like when genders are swapped about from books to tv.
The bones of Foundation were made by a man, Hari Seldon. His gender change was the most annoying. But 'he' was not alone.
You may have given me reason to watch at least a couple more episodes. I thought Hari was a man in the show, but you're saying Hari's a woman... Now I gotta find out who just got in trouble when I last watched! (Trouble is an understatement, but I don't want to spoil for anyone else who's as far behind as I am, so I'm resisting clear-cut description of the trouble...) Anyway, if these swaps are done well, I don't mind. Same with skin colour. Give me variety, but it needs to make sense.

We watched a movie from 1999 called Smart House. It's on Disney+, and all I really remembered about it was that I had seen it before. That was a fun trip down 90's memory lane, hee hee.
We also had time for another episode of Wondla. I like it! Gonna look for the first book soon - the oldest teen has the second and third from library discards, but after we watch the show through, it'll be nice to get the full story.

Sorry, reflecting back, it was Salvador Hardin that had the gender change. It's a while since I saw it..

I watched The Queen last night. Casting was really good, especially James Cromwell as a curmudgeonly Prince Philip. The movie seemed to be not so much about the queen herself, though, so that was a tad disappointing.
I'd recommend seeing Helen Mirren as Golda Meir as well, in Golda. She does a great job!
I have at least two more movies waiting on the PVR, but I'll probably go back to For All Mankind tonight, to finish Season 1.
The Seriel killers wife was good and had a nice twist. It wasnt too violent or graphic.
We just finsihed watching 5 days at Memorial, following the people stranded at Memorial hospital after hurrican Katrina.. All I can say is it made me so glad I live here and not in the USA, the government response was dreadful.
I've been watching Court TV. It takes you inside the court room of various cases around the country, mostly pertaining to murders. It's intersting to watch the prosecution strategies versus those of the defense.

It's not something I've done much and not lately but I have found it interesting to go to court as a spectator. I really felt more of the emotion of the place than you get on TV. Some of the little cases are interesting too. Much more something people associate with real life than murders, which most are never implicated in.

There used to be a show that followed people fighting parking tickets some arguments were very good and the people had really taken the time to photograph their car to show it wasnt breaking rules or to show signage was impossible to read. Others just turned up with that entitled idea that they should never get a ticket.
My brother fought a parking ticket once, he won because he proved that CCTV showed he had had a breakdown , a valve went on the engine and it blew out massive clouds of smoke. He argued that driving any further was a danger to other road users and he showed that he had had to have recovery come and get the car.
I went back in time last night and watched the 1960 film "The Siege of Sidney Street". It was based on a true story but embellished a bit. I enjoyed it though even though it was dated:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Sidney_Street

I chose a movie on the PVR tonight. My younger sister correctly identified it when I texted "Pop quiz, hotshot. What movie am I watching?"
We enjoyed the movie Speed a lot back in the mid-90's, so I was pretty sure she'd get that! We give each other gold stars by text, and she got one with that!
