About a year ago, August 2021, scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab published a now peer reviewed paper documenting the ignition of a self sustaining fusion reaction. This is a milestone breakthrough in physics.
Potentially the generation of extreme heat from the fusion of hydrogen nuclei to form helium (star power) would be the ultimate source of cheap electricity. Even the helium generated could be sold at a profit.
At this rate safe nuclear power could alone support the energy grid, within 50 -years, I think, would be a safe bet and an end to unsightly and inefficient wind and solar farms.
I honestly believe, though I still try to practice ecology, that progress in ecology, is going to have to be produced in matter like this.
We are all just too small minded to do it any other way. Read below, and you will see my proof.
I know a woman who will not use any fossil fuel transport. Thus she can only get anywhere by bicycle.
Her complete uniqueness among anyone i am even familiar with, shows how little effort we are really making. Does anyone else know anyone who is doing as much?
It's all about balance... if we can swap out one resource (that can damage our environment) for a cleaner way one day, then why not?
The ones mostly against it are the ones who make money off of the resource people want to swap out lol wait until they invest in cleaner resources first; they just are not ready yet...
Maybe not either. It was a good film, in principle, but is a total no no for me due to it being so dark (literally). It probably comes close to being my worst ever film although the book is probably very good (if it exists).

I also get cross at films where it is almost too dark to see. But I also scorn films where they turn off the bedrooms light, and there is no difference. lol
What always makes me look though, is how many have all the lights on despite it being a sunny day, and not just that. But when they walk into the house, all the lights are already one???
Wow.. it really does look like a clump of cells. Or like mold growing on some thin, congealed milk layer.
It doesn't look like a valid life form to me.
I don't think anything that is vacuum suctioned for example would come out as appealing as to the human eyes. Of course, these tissues look like nothing in a Petri dish! They're all broken. Nice try MYA.

I don't believe it would look like this just because it was suctioned out. It's not a blender. If that were the case, then it would still have a different composition even if it was broken up... this composition is clearly cells that have not formed into anything just yet, which is how we all begin. This isn't new information, but we don't tend to be shown imagery of this process.

My point is that they looks nothing when you take out the tissues from where they came from, and put them in a Petri dish. A human eye could only see what it's capable to see which is more often than not is limited. But look at these tissues in their original placement, alive, untouched, unwashed and with the help of more capable lens, one would be able to see the true form and true potential. Actually, there are some cells that are still worth looking on the Petri dish, the sperm cells! But again, you cannot see their true form and value with your naked eye but under the microscope. To say that the cells have not formed into anything yet is a bit misnomer. These cells are into a process of baby's development. At 5 weeks (or 51/2 weeks, heartbeat is detectable). It appears to me that MYA is not objective enough to help women to arrive in an informed choice. Why did they choose to show an unwashed, cleaned up tissues instead of raw tissues? Oh I know, because it's easy for anyone to see what these cells REALLY looks like.

No-one ever said termination was an easy decision.
Well, my post was not intended to be about abortion. Just showing early stages of formation.... I thought it was interesting from a scientific perspective, as this is a science thread after all.

Sorry, Heather. I didn't mean to lead it to that. I went to MYA website and just got carried away...a little bit
It's interesting, and perhaps scary, to see some of the figures. The current stated, 1,400 amps would be a real problem if a faulty connection happened with just a parasitic resistance of just one ohm. That would have to dissiapate 1.96 kW of power (heat). Even at say 0.1 ohm, which is not untypical in normal wiring, it would be 196 W which is almost twice that of the old 100W lamp bulb. Remember how hot they used to get?
It's all safe until it goes wrong but such systems, at the moment, are in the provice of experts, not generally the home user. Some people do tinker
As an example, I replaced one of our storage heater mains switches. I found that, because of a loose connection, the high current flow had badly charred and blackened the the switch and surrounding area. This is only a few amps, not even tens or hundreds.
