Well now i was just looking to see some writings and just seen a miner detail some one who came here a little while ago does a good bit of writing and then hang on i wonder how many letter,s i have done , ....OH.... at this rate i,ll never catch up i,m not even in the fist 100 , OH HECK... maybe 1 or 2 a month. gee, i wont get very far if i was told or asked to write story,s

On another forum i,m on been many years now and we have some 10 allways writing is like what...now these are guys, only 2 of us are female , now they like to kick each other and incite each other and then have a go at each other , well the mods do remind them this lot of writings will be closed down and no further comment so they start some where else,

I will write about maybe 1 letter in 2 months as i,m not into thier style of going off at each other,

So for some guy,s it seems to me this oneupmanship being pushed to the limits and i allmost have given up bothering to write so now is just to say i,m still here and only one guy will write back and say glad your still around so i,ll just write a short letter and let him know what,s going on and how we are, .

Now why is it i can ask some guys to let me know about them selfs and what they like doing in hobbies and see if any thing is some thing like i do,,, nope hardly will they,   write oh well it shuts me down and i give up so not many men seem to wont to write, oh well,

Oh of cause the men have no interest in me because i,m a female and many of the interests i have they would not lower them self to my   level ya i know i,m a machinest i tryed talking about what i can do. na not a show,     and theres other hobbies like reinactment more for women , well depends on what side of the fence your on we have many guys involved and they are of cause into the sports side - hard out -, big guys yet get on well with them

I,v had about 3 guys who are interested in my side of machinery so in the main very few  who would talk to a woman clued up and can talk thier language,, never mind

Many years ago in the 60.s i was an apprentice first to the cabby making french Polishing for 2 years then changed over to the building and joinery well the start for me any way, in the building side i worked with my Forman and his off sider, as other,s know i,am different seen as a lad more so than a female any way wether they knew or not they treated me differently i felt they knew i was a female just never brought up so they were two so ....LOVELY.... men. i was very fortunate to have been with them and my Boss I only ever had one he was great, we had 21 in the firm and one other Lass, and was a neat firm to work with.

My expreance with men was hard as i did not like being around men yet i had to learn and yes took a while for me to settle down so having the guys i did most were good apart from few were ya well no comment .. i got on quite good ,

Over the last 20 years i have been in charge of different aspects of work buildings and people a good few men knew my background and worked for me of cause they knew i was a female

, a couple thought they could over ride me well they wised up I am the Boss i,m incharge and i know what i,m doing , so they did back off in the main most guys who work with or for me dont ? me , and they know not to. so over all in most aspects i,v done well surprising really as i did have to learn many men were and what the hell do you know type attitude,

So i have seen changes though more is needed in some place,s

Hi There,

Yes i know some women would not wont to go where i have been I worked for Govt Departments one was the NZ Railways and did work on all building in my section plus with our crew,s on the Bridges two were Broken river and Staircase one was 5 sec drop to the bottom 2nd was 7 sec,s i spent 2 years working on them 2 different crew,s basic all steel from the UK timber from Australia , one day as we do,,,,, drop things over the side so at some stage we have to go down ,,,,right so the leading hand said he would go , so takes 20 min,s walk slip down the river section , so us 3 looked at each other and looked down ,,,,,ya well over the side and down the steel took us 15 min,s to climb down , so for a laugh we sat on the concrete slab and made out we were sun bathing as the leading hand appeared around the other side of the river, he was surprised to say the least,,,

Okay got what we dropped and he went off back up the river we waited a bit and lets go 15 min,s later we up the top and back working, Like we never went down he just shook his head never said a thing and that was that.

Now call us mad nut,s or plain crazzzzy, we no fear or OH,,,OH,,, cant do that. ya well . now just think we climbed down and up no ropes or what evers just hands on steel and do it.we had the confidence and we allso knew we could .

Now even some men i know would look at us and think .....what the hell. we knew the risk,s and knowing what to do. i have been on and worked on 16 of those bridge,s all over them and i had to check each one and with the trains thundering over me ,

And i can tell you some funny story,s ,,,,,oh yes.

I knew i was never going to work in an office or inside jobs i was an out side person and pretty much enjoyed what i did .

You know what i look at some women and know they could do what i have done they like me just need to rethink how they see them self,s a lot of women can do so much more than they have been taught i can train other,s its the attitude the mind set and the yes i can do this theres little women can not do i was with the NZ Navy and my training is solid and diciplined you train and learn , i do have the advantage i,m strong and age 17 on i trained weight lifting on the jobs and knew what i needed,

The I ,,,WONT TO,,,,,is the key.

The Bridges i talked about go to your map and look them up the south island from Ch Ch = Christchurch to Ather,s Pass and you,ll see what they look like at the time we lived at Springfield so start there and follow the midland line over , i worked for the Foreman of Works in Ch Ch for a year and was posted to one of 3 places we could go so Springfield was the one .
