For hot buttered crumpets... It must be this rotten cold making me feel awful and wanting comfort food, but of course they dont sell crumpets in NL..

So a quick look online for a recipie and voila! 20 fresh crumpets that taste wonderful..Now I just have to make sure OH doesnt eat them all..

Another Americanism I dont like, Hash browns.. Since when did they become standard on an English breakfast?
The first time someone asked me if I wanted them I still had my Dutch mindset on and thought they said Hash Brownies which I thought would make for a cheerful start to the day but when I got something on my plate that tatsed of deep fried cardboard I soon changed my mind!

Pancakes are not supposed to be doughy, so if you had them like that they did them wrong =p They are supposed to be kind of airy. I also don't like them drenched in syrup. I put my syrup to the side so I can dip my pancakes in them so they maintain their texture.

Hash browns should not taste like deep fried cardboard. They should be pan fried or baked, but not in a whole lot of oil or anything. You need to have some good hash browns!! If you like potato, then you would like them when done right :-) They should taste like yummy potato with a little crispiness on the outside and some softer potato throughout.

I would have preferred hash brownies too!
