As we had our first snow yesterday lots of people got the holiday mood at once and me too.
At the mall I heard one lady saying to another her holiday greetings. We have a strange tradition to say to everyone "With the upcoming", meaning "My congratulations with the upcoming New Year", but anyway, doing this in November, isn't too early)))
In Ukrainian villages you need to say "Hello" to everyone you see no matter you know this person or you don't, but if you won't greet someone this person will think you're incredibly rude.
Of course there are no things like this in cities, especially in big ones, but still we often talk to complete strangers. For example it's OK to ask a stranger in the shop who is taking the product you're interested in if he/she already tried it and whether he/she liked it...
And on holidays we just all turn in a one big celebrating group of people. People you don't know can offer you to drink with them, right here at the street and I don't mean drinkers, doctors, engineers, teachers, everyone does that) Once I was in the subway on January 1st and suddenly the light turned off, then someone started to sing a song, frankly I don't remember which one, but some New Year's one, and the next moment everyone who was in that train was singing along)
OK, I love winter holidays! And it's snowing again, so I'm in the Christmas mood)))
We do very well communally when there is adversity.
A few years ago we had severe snowfall and people couldn't get out of their driveways, well neighbours helped each other out. In fact, the guy across the road, Mr Loonie as we refer to him, actually pushed my car into the driveway. After that he went back to frowning, or pointedly looking away when we see each other.

We've bought a big part of presents this weekend, mostly toys. Almost all that we needed for the kids, just forgot about 1 DH's niece, but we still have some time left.

Yeah, I do! I love Christmas and everything connected to it, but I'm having this holiday mood only before the holiday, the next day after it I start asking DH to put the fur tree and all the decorations away)))
