If the atheist candidate stood for things that I support, I would definitely vote for him. On the other hand, if he happened to be a Trumpeist, forget it!

I agree. Perhaps Suzy or Suzanne should explain why Canada is "glorious and free" and the Colonies just pretend to be. I borrowed that quote from Canada's National Anthem.
Religion doesn't matter much to me when it comes to politics.
I would really prefer someone who doesn't even bring religion into it, so I would definitely vote for an atheist. As long as they are respectful of everyone's beliefs and share the same mindset as I do.... "for the people, f*ck corporations" =p
It is not the same the world over. Here in England there is very little religious information about politicians.
Seriously, most of us think it is irrelevant.
I wish it was like that in America. It shouldn't matter.
Also, I hate that so many of our Presidents are the same. All have been male. Most or all have been Christian. All of them were white until Obama. And I also found out that 80% of them had blue eyes for some reason.
Time for variety! Or at least time for us not to care either way anymore.
If you think they do, ask yourself if the jews preyed in Belsen, or Buchenwald, or any of these:

I know the history, but should I remove you from my prayer list now? I include my friends in my prayers each night. You know that I don't believe in mainstream religion, but became a "Godian".
I sure wish we could take a page or two from the UK. There are far too many people here who want MORE religion added, and they will only vote for people based on their religious views. AND... we are constantly having votes based on religious perspectives, which should never even be a thing.
For example, we have people who are fighting to make sure all schools still have us do the pledge of allegiance (which has "under God" in it); they feel we need it in order to remain a moral country... SURE, except most of those "moral" people aren't very moral or practicing what they preach, so what difference does it make anyway?
I would like for religion to be removed from politics in full. I don't see a place for it in government, so I would be a bit more welcoming to an atheist president than many people in the US...

I don't oppose people's beliefs I do oppose them forcing their beliefs on the general public, especially in public schools
