This is the place to voice your opinion regarding Nature. I'll start it off by saying that those people that deny the existence of global warming are either naive or don't care.
There are some unexplained anomalies Jen, such as ozone depletion, and how much warming may be by natural causes.
Also, much radiated contamination is atmospheric, therefore very difficult to accurately track.
And, pseudo scientists and uneducated "environmentalists" have lost some credibility with their exaggerated claims.
Al Gore and his poorly researched "Inconvenient Truth" was a criticized, laughed at, effort that is bound to be a cult classic. It even embarrassed legitimate enviro scientists who immediately distanced themselves.
That said, Global Warming from Fossil Fuel release is on solid scientific ground. Its long term effects remain somewhat debatable though.
Politicians are held in check, by checks, from big oil, sugar, and other related industry.
So sad!
Good topic Jen.

I am not defending Putin in the slightest. I am just concerned that I cannot have any faith that what I have been told is actually enough to get a true picture.

I hope that you aren't serious. Otherwise, I'll Trump you! Al Gore had more people vote for him than the Idiot (W). If the Florida vote wasn't a sham, Gore would have rightfully won the election and we wouldn't have wasted all the lives and money by invading Iraq. Sorry, Shell.

Well, being aware that there is a problem is the first step to preparing for the future.
The ones who keep their heads in the sand are much worse than the ones who exaggerate the effects of a warming planet because one means taking action/making changes and the other means ignoring it.
I'd rather be prepared and nothing happen then be unprepared and the worst case scenario happens.
The average American is assaulted by an uneducated press that lack even the most basic journalistic skills.
We feed on bad news, so the environment is so ripe for picking.
Most of us could not accurately define the term "organic", so loved to be used by the manipulated "environmentalist".
The man on the street that thinks Fox news is credible cannot distinguish between fact and maybe fact.
We are all affected, all of us.
The internet is almost unusable unless carefully screened for value and credibility. Factual reporting has given way to sensationalism that found their roots in ancient scripture.
The end result is people end up confusing fact with agendae resulting in someone as dumb as Trump garnering respect.
No respectable voter would even consider Trump.
Yet, there he is, the new darling that has tapped into the uneducated American that think Hispanics are a national threat.

As far as protecting the environment is concerned, I believe that it's better to do too much than too little. We're talking about the survival of our f**king planet!
Budget conscious companies and countries must be judicious in all expenditures.
One example my dad never fails to bring up is how environmentalists killed nuclear power, lacking science, costing us trillions of dollars, and left damaging fossil fuel instead, based on WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
Greenpeace portrays itself as an environmental conscious group, yet they exhibit radical behavior by ramming fishing vessels in the open ocean causing dangerous situations, and going against all environment principles.
They also participated in driving foot long steel and iron spikes in trees in the forests of northern California in attempts in injure, even kill loggers.
These actions are actually recorded, yet they deny it.
So when someone describes themselves as an ardent environmentalist I am very interested in who they really are.
Most are simply puppets that repeat what they have been told, and do little research.
Personally, I like to hear all 3 sides of the story.

But, I heard this evening that Al Gore may run for President! Al knows about the environment and was right 30 years ago. I am so disgusted by the current candidates, I wasn't going to vote. If Al throws his hat into the ring, he has my vote! Sorry Shell and you may gore me if you want to, but I believe in what he stands for.
Gore mistook the environment for our economic woes. He just was out of touch. Even today we are rightly more concerned about unrest in the ME over the environment.
Obama has done what he can do methinks.
And the environmentalists need to rebuild their credibility with the American public.
Remember, the environmentalists secured global warming with their hysterical anti nuclear power charade.
This is the place to voice your opinion regarding Nature. I'll start it off by saying that those people that deny the existence of global warming are either naive or don't care.
Global warming IS a thing. If us as humans are contributing to it could be up for debate but certainly we aren't helping things.
Mother Nature is cyclical if you look historically at the weather. There have been global warming and cooling periods over the centuries. We are just in another trend.
As far as protecting the environment is concerned, I believe that it's better to do too much than too little. We're talking about the survival of our f**king planet!
Not to nit pick my dearest Jen...but the planet will be fine without us.
It is the human species we should be concerned about. And yes, I agree...we are oblivious to the fact that we are helping to F up our environment.

The fossil fuel threats relating to carbon are quite real. There is no debate we are culpable.
That said we all know that climate changes are cyclical, not necessarily predictable.
The average citizen remains confused bc you have debate among experts that differ substantially.
Throw in the pseudo science enviro people that exaggerate everything, and the consumer that just want's a new car every 4 years, a 51 inch flat screen, and payoff the orthodontist this year, is overwhelmed, so he/she retracts into their comfort zone.
Politicians are aware of this so they keep us believing in something that just gets them reelected bc that's their real goal and any science is related to the bible.
Gore got on the wrong train Jen, at the wrong time, that had already left the station and derailed a few miles down the track. There he remains.
