I will shortly be sitting down with my library book.
I shall comment on said-book when I have finished it by late afternoon.
And I did.
It was a brilliant romance story: it had such depth and emotion. It was extremely well written and I enjoyed reading it in one sitting. It is definitely a book I'd read again.

I'm almost finished The Midwife's Sister. Interesting read! I skimmed through American Born Chinese since I've been watching the show from Disney. Show is better so far!
I have a small stack of library books to try, including a Sophie Kinsella, a poetry book, a book of veterinary tales, and a Tolkien novel.
I have just finished the Ian Fleming "Live and Let Die". James Bond does seem really dated in the book, and several of the things that happen have been extracted and mixed up in the films. Worth a read for something different but out of sync with today's tastes. That said I do have "Moonraker" on my pile though
We often need to renew, but I don't worry too much about that. And if I have to return still, I know I can always borrow the book again.
I'm reading Sisterchicks in Mexico as an ebook. I tried a few print books last night and most were duds for me. Loved the Corrie ten Boom book, though.

I publish my own eBooks on Lulu.com. It is the modern world of publishing and people seldom buy print books online. The Kindle is where people like to read their literature.

Most of my paper books come from online. So cheap.

I get almost all of my books via loans from friends or the couple of book exchanges I visit. I have bought some online though but it is rare. Mostly the technical books although I usually have a lot of downloaded PDF's to look through.
I pay nothing for my paper books: they come from the library.
Libraries are good if you are unspecific, but I know what I want to read, and libraries don't tend to stock them.
Yes, it used to irritate me that they never seemed to have that good a selection of Agatha Christies and other older writers. They concentrated more on more modern novels which have more appeal, although fast turnaround so library book sales are common here. When I last looked in the main library in town I found that most of the old reference books appeared to have gone. Replaced by computer stations habited mainly by students. Somehow it lost it's appeal, and I can easily lookup most things on the computer at home anyway.

I read more of Pride & Prejudice last night because the boys had gotten ahead of me with their audiobook listening. I'm almost caught up now!
Still enjoying the Sisterchicks novel as well, and I've read/skimmed most of the Fall of Gondolin by JRR Tolkien (illustrated by Alan Lee). I'll have to remember to look for Beren and Luthien as well...
I started reading my library book this morning and finished reading the same library book a few hours later.
It was a good story. I don't think I'd read it again: but I don't regret reading it. It was a story that had its twists and turns. Some parts were good, some parts were bad. I'm not sure I liked the main character: she didn't inspire me. In fact, she was a bit gullible. Not stupid but gullible. I can understand how events unfolded but I wasn't sure I agreed with her decisions. Still, it was a book to read and I'd give it 9/10. Not 10 because it isn't a book I would read twice.
I am now onto another book: it is about Greek mythology in story form. So far, so good.
I'm reading another Sisterchicks novel by Robin Jones Gunn. In this one, the gals go to Paris. Haven't finished the Dress Diary book yet. Also started reading a Star Trek novel aloud to the teens.
The teens finished listening to Pride & Prejudice tonight, so they're now on to a Doctor Who audio drama that was part of a bundle we recently bought (with graphic novels too).

Finished the Sisterchicks Paris book, next will be one with travel to Venice! In between, I'm reading the second Sweet River Ranch novel from Valerie Comer. So far it's just okay, not great.
Reading aloud: High Country, a Star Trek Strange New Worlds novel. Slow progress with the dress diary book - it's good, but I forget to pick it up again once I take a reading break... Oops!
