And finish reading it I did!
It took a good few hours, but was worth every minute. The story had a bittersweet taste to it and was heartbreaking. Yet there was love in it: a woman fell in love with a different man. Her husband never forgave her. But the story showed the power of the heart. She had fallen in love with someone else.
I finished the "Inspector Morse - Service of All the Dead" and have just started the next in the series - "The Dead of Jerico". "Serice of All the Dead" was a good book, if a little confusing in places.

I'm on Book Three of the Big Prairie series I mentioned before. The first book was the best so far, but there have been good moments in the other two books as well. Not sure what's coming next for ebooks, though I think there's something releasing tomorrow from previous authors I've read, plus a Valerie Comer is out on May 6.
Not sure about print, but I always find more somehow to check out. A recent acquisition was Devotions by John Donne because I hadn't heard of it before, but I liked some of his poetry.

I'm reading a new book by Valerie M. Bodden, in the River Falls series. So good! I also have a Juliette Duncan (in the Water's Edge series) that released yesterday (as the Bodden book did) and that'll be fun. Both books are "borrowed" through Kindle. My Kindle Unlimited subscription is well worth it!
I read women's mags too, but I am not fussy as to which, as long as it is not "Hello" type magazine, which I abhor, or those silly short stories magazine. They just get on my pip.
Sometimes I read a fashion magazine, thats about it.
Ah, I'm a dedicated magazine junkie.
I'll read a magazine from cover-to-cover, including every article.
I LOVE magazines and books.
Sometimes even the adverts are interesting. When I did more in the way of fashion design, with my artwork, I occasionally bought one of those thicker fashion magazines you can get. I did read some of the articles but it was really the clothing pictures, both featured and adverts, I bought the magazines for.

I finished both books from last Tuesday, and I have another to finish that I had been reading before that. New ebook coming next Friday or Saturday!
Any bets on how long before I try a print book (Feather on the Moon, Phyllis A. Whitney) that I snagged yesterday? It may end up in a neglected pile...

I no longer have the time or probably the concentration to read a book in one sitting.
Although the translation can affect the speed at which a book goes. A good translation can mean the all difference in a book. When I read I don't just read, I see the faces, hear the voices so its quite difficult, such as in my last book where it's set in Edinburgh, to read Dutch words but hear Scottish voices.

I don't think I have read a book in one sitting since the days I read by torchlight under the bedclothes
To some extent I see the faces and hear the voices too. I am often a bystander looking in so take in the atmosphere and things like the clothing too. That is one reason why I like past fashion. Sometimes I have to step back a bit though. With my interest in the history of the world wars it's difficult to read books set in European countries, for instance, without thinking in the obvious stereotypes.
Well I'm sorry but that book was totally weird. Without any introduction a character pops up who is losing the ability to speak. There's about 20 pages that just have a single sentence or a single word on them. Later on there's a similar section filled with numbers. The protagonist a 9-year-old boy has got to be the singularly most weird child I have ever heard of and believe me my lot are basket cases. I decided to cut my losses and spare anyone else the pain of trying to read it it's gone into the recycling bin.
Among others, as I usually have several books on the go at the same time, I have just finishe the Inspector Morse: "The Dead of Jerico". I enjoyed it, although with modern attitudes the smoking and excessive drinking do play on my mind.
I have staterd the next: "The Riddle of the Third Mile". I remember it a little from the last time I read it. I enjoyed it then.
I finished my Dutch Ian Rankin and thought it felt familiar. When unpacking boxes of books I found I already had it in English!
Ive finished a Dr Who novel and a Dutch detective novel now Im onto Dutch girl, Audrey Hepburn story of the war years. Its interesting because her family was from this area but they moved to Arnhem and Carol Vordermans father was from Arnhem and actually printed an underground newspaper during the war.
I have finished "The Riddle of the Third Mile". It was as good as I remembered. Now I have started "The Secret of Annexe 3". The next in the Inspector Morse series.
I shall be diving into a book shortly: it needs to be read, so I will be sitting down - with no interruptions - and reading for a good four hours.
Novel here I come!
I finished reading my book. It was a really good story and had such soul and depth to it. I am now reading the last novel in my recent library book pile. And I shall be reading that in one sitting, too.
Since I was notified of fines on umpteen books when I accidently let them run over time by one day I have not used the libraries here, except for reference, at all. The service has gone downhill in recent years anyway. Book exchanges are now in vogue. You are just limited to what is around though but even libraries are limited when you want particular books.
