Finished Dragon Rider last night with the older boys. Slow going when they have regularly scheduled audiobook nights and then a few more if I'm tired or have a headache. Still nice to read aloud, though. Maybe we should do The Lord of the Rings again!
I shall be reading the NEW issue of "Good Housekeeping" magazine: hopefully later today.
And indeed I did! A thoroughly enjoyable issue this month, with inspiring articles and fabulous fashion. I am just waiting for the new issue of "Woman & Home" to arrive through the post: hopefully today.
Oh: I am going to the library today. I really need more books to read.

I read the NEW issue of "Woman & Home" this morning. It is a rather excellent magazine and thoroughly enjoyable to read. I read it every month like clockwork. I used to read many more magazines too: I am a bit of a magazine junkie. Ever since those first issues of Just 17 I've been addicted.
It's not often that I read magazines now. I found, some years ago, that it was better for me to buy books. The trouble with magazines is that most of what I was buying was adverts.

I left a Star Trek graphic novel (omnibus, even!) till the end of the usual library loan period, so now I'm digging into it and my Star Trek Explorer magazine will have to wait. I've given the magazine a quick flip-through, though, just to get a peek at the contents.
I've been re-reading part of a series by Valerie Comer that is set in Spokane, WA. It's great to revisit these stories while I wait for her newest book to release tomorrow (and then again after that one is consumed/devoured!). Much slower with non-fiction picks, but I'll get there eventually.

I am reading a good novel set in Liverpool about a young girl in the early 1900's. She comes from an orphanage and is taken to a rich woman's house, where she learns many things. I haven't gotten to the section where she is a woman yet, though.

It is a good book and I am enjoying reading it.
I finished reading the above novel. I also finished reading another book: this time it was about a nurse in New York and set in the late 1800's. I am now reading the third novel in my recent "to read" pile, which is four books in total.
I finished reading/skimming Jane in Love by Rachel Givney. I just wanted Jane Austen time-travelling and having her perspective on everything in the 21st century, didn't care about the other characters!
I have just finished the first book in the 'Inspector Morse' series by Colin Dexter. "Last Bus to Woodstock". It's not the first time I have read it and I do know the story fairly well but I enjoyed reading it again. It was written in 1975, and it does show in the written style. I do like this as it all adds to the feeling of the book.

I picked up several books at the library this afternoon that looked interesting, not sure where to start! Perhaps the graphic novels because they're quicker reads? And there's a book about space from Roberta Bondar.
I finished a series of novellas today called The Tuscan Legacy. Multiple authors contributed, but my favourite stories were by Autumn Macarthur.

I tried the first Miss Fisher's Mysteries book this morning and wasn't hooked in the first two chapters. I'll try the show next and see if that gets me. I could always go back to the books if I get to know the characters from the show.

I have seen the odd show but not the books. Another one for me to look out for.

Today I finished reading "The Horse Dancer" by Jojo Moyes.
It took me over 5 hours to read in one sitting but was well worth the time. The story was engaging and enjoyable with lots of drama and action. It definitely was not a boring novel. And I'd read it again in a heartbeat.
I am now onto another novel, which is equally as enjoyable.

Why not give the books a chance? It'd take a few hours to read but it'd pick up before then.
