Studying space and other planets can help us learn about our own planet, you know. That's part of why we also do it. We are also looking for similar planets to study, to again, learn about our own better :-) If you thought about it from that perspective, then you may find a bit more interest in it.

When we discover lifeforms and organisms living in what we would consider uninhabitable environments, then it makes us search deeper on our own planet to find more life. What we consider necessary to create life or inhabit life will probably be altered the more we discover. It is pretty interesting stuff.
