I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes (or getting myself in trouble) but this is a simple moral discussion.
I'm not talking about euthanasia, but I do believe in it. It's legal in Canada now.
I am talking about ridding the world of vile people who deserve it. Like, the lowest of the low, the pedophiles, the rapists, the serial killers. Those who are still alive because they live in an area where the justice system does not support the death penalty.
If you were 100% certain that someone was guilty of one of those offenses, and you knew you wouldn't get in trouble... would you?
If none of this was done to me personally or anyone I knew, I would if I was given a LOT of money and I knew they were 100% guilty.
If they did this to me or someone I knew, I would do it for free.
***Note... this is only if they were not getting the death penalty. Canada does not have such a thing.

I agree with you, Suzy. The horrible people do their things, and move on to do similar things to other people. Screw the bad guys and make them be accountable for their actions.
I have no problem killing if the circumstances warrants it. Protecting myself, my children etc... I'd kill someone in a heartbeat. And although I have no desire to be anyone's executioner, given the right circumstances (legalities and all) I could kill someone.
However, I KNOW with 100% certainty I could not ever hurt a child and I'm not sure (unless they were trying to kill me or my family) if I could kill a woman. I know that sounds horribly biased but its how I am.
I was in a situation once where I actually had to fight for my life and I never want to be there again. But in that moment I knew if it came to it I would protect myself and not become a victim. Thankfully it didn't go that far.
If I had to in order to stay alive, yes! And to protect those I care about as well. I might kill someone to protect a stranger, too, depending on the situation at hand. I'd do what I can at least.
If it was someone who killed a loved one... I sure would want to, but I'm not sure if I'd do it myself. However, part of me doesn't want to do it because I'd get into trouble, so who knows what would happen if that was off the table lol I don't live in that world, though, so I cannot 100% say! If it happened right in front of me, then most likely yes. That would definitely be a heat of the moment kind of thing.
Other than that, I don't think I could personally kill anyone, even if they were a bad person, but I would let someone else execute them if there is 100% proof of their deeds, especially if there is no sign of remorse or humanity in them whatsoever. I just see no hope in such a person.
I agree, I could never kill a CHILD no matter how horrific their actions are. Kids are a product of reaction to their environment. If they did something horrible, it is pretty much always a reaction to their environment... plus kids still have hope. You can still rehabilitate a child, because their brain hasn't finished growing and they lack the ability to feel empathy and reason like an adult, so it is truly possible they could "Grow out" of it.
Grown adults can't grow out of their behaviours. Which is why some people shouldn't be rehabilitated, and instead just exterminated.
i find this one question really hard to answer, and me and my OH have a deate about this sort of thing all the time. i may go way off track here but.. we was watching something that was talking about death penalty, or killing vile people such as the ones you mentioned. but you know, i dont think i would, i also dont think i would wish the death penalty on someone, simply because, IMHO i think death is a easy way out, well no.. it would be if the prisons were as strict as they should be, prison is a easy way out over here but i dont think we need to bring in the death penalty or kill the vile people.. i think we need to change the way our systems work, feed them crappy foods, give them a crappy bed and a hole to wee/poo in, dont let them have visitors, or luxuries, terrify them, make them pay, hurt them, but dont kill them, once they are dead they dont have to suffer. BUT on the other hand my OH made a good point about how much money it costs to keep these people in prison, why waste money on complete waste of space? kill them and good riddance to them, as i say good point, but idk..
more back to your point Suzy sorry for going off, i dont think i would do it, not only do i not have the balls to throw a punch, i wouldnt like to have to live with that on my back, IMO it would make me as bad as the person.
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait ‘til tomorrow For babies grow up we've learnt to our sorrow, So quiet down cobwebs Dust go to sleep I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep
To me, if you are supporting a death penalty, you should be able, and willing to be the person who does the killing.
I don't know. I support a lot of things that I'd never do myself, and I'm sure most people do.
Some of these things are taboo or viewed as immoral and wrong, but I still support them, and I do not have to practice any of it to be a supporter.
Killing them yourself, I suppose is rather extreme.
It is more than just a moral isse.
But
Excluding a case of personal revenge, as that again is a different matter. How about you being the person responsible for telling them that for what they did, they must now die?

Or maybe, ISIS members that have beheaded innocents should be beheaded themselves. An Eye for an Eye and a Head for a Head. I believe that I have decent morals, but I can't tolerate blatant cruelty.
...and when they throw themselves at your feet begging?
Telling you how well their daughter is doing at kindergarten...........
Um, no pity from me. Maybe they should have thought about that before they did their heinous crime?? lol
Remember, this is how I feel about the people who are intentionally killing people... gruesomely.
Not the ones who did something on accident or even possibly because of mental illness. I can make excuses for some, and I can be compassionate toward them.
But the ones who know what they are doing... no. I will mourn for those they hurt, and I will not mourn for the killer.
