p60 p45.. UK

so i have a question, i am on a baby forum and i was asking on there the best way to do tax credit renewal, i mentioned something and i was told to look back at my p60 or p45, i mentioned that i dont have any, actually i do i have one but not for the time frame i need, so then i was told that theres something not right if my boss doesnt give me a p60 every tax year..

i dont pay tax and i dont pay NI bcos i dont earn enough money, the business is tiny, its literally just me and my boss. i never even thought about it but they have panicked me now, im worried something isnt right.

when i asked my boss he said he just never had the facilities the do them and never saw the point because i dont pay tax or NI, anyway i asked him if he hires me legally, i was worrying a bit. he said of corse he does, this was his words..

'i dont declare for you as an individual, i declare for us both, and i pay what i need to pay for us both, ive never needed to give p60s until my employee leaves, and if/when you do i will give you one. but ive never had any problems doing it this way'

but now im seriously worrying, what if i am asked to show p45 or p60 and i dont have one then we both get in trouble??
