I cannot help but think negatively of this job creation plan. Am I missing something?
Leaflets or fliers, I am sure they are as prevalent in your letterbox as mine.
Ok, the cycle that keeps people in employment and earning money.

I have probably left a few out, but jeez, is this the right way to run an economy? Particularly when most of us are only glancing briefly at the top line, before binning these things and moaning at their intrusion into our lives?

Yep, it's wasteful more times than not. They may do better with local ad placement on the internet =p No guarantees, though!
The fliers I look at are ones containing coupons or local grocery stores that I actually go to or have thought about going to. Anything else is discarded instantly.
lol I just woke up when I was reading your post, my focus ended up being about fliers because you repeated the process of it so much LOL I could not think of anything else, sorry! I can be easily distracted ;-)
What's wrong with creating more job opportunities?
What is the alternative? Shoving everyone into the jobs we already have available, even if they aren't particularly cut out for it?
Here is my (hopefully) simplified explanation... What if all the jobs that were available were a, b, c, and d.. but I would do better with e? However, all the jobs in e are taken or are extremely limited, and nobody intends to focus on adding more e jobs? I would excel in e, but I can only choose between a-d.
Maybe with job creation plans they intend on adding more "e jobs" as well =p It could create more options, more people excelling, and more growth.

This may be slightly off the topic, but why is it that in past years everyone wanted the price of oil to go down and now that it has, the Wall Street gurus say that the stock market goes down because people are paying LESS for gas???
Broadly speaking, it tends to rise slightly ahead of inflation over the longer term, but it can be a rocky ride every so often. But, again, broadly speaking, it will outperform leaving the money in the bank.
Though, it is highly unlikely that you will go bankrupt leaving your money in a bank.

Gasoline (Petrol, Cher ) is below $2 here now. What I don't understand is that one would think that if someone was paying less for gas, it would enable them to purchase other items to help the economy.

Actually, the reason slow change is preferred is that gives businesses time to adjust - a sudden change means the businesses that suffer (those depending on high oil prices, like exploration, oil fields suppliers, gas stations, etc) have no time to adjust and go bankrupt, while the ones that can profit (like shipping, plastics manufacturing, etc) have no time to adjust to take full advantage. The result is a temporary spike in unemployment while everything catches up, and everyone agrees that is bad.

Suzy, I know that I should have posted this on the music thread, but . . . do you know of the band "RUSH"? I like the things that I've heard and they are Canadians, eh. See how I linked the Great White North into the conversation?

Most companies put in an additional 5% of your weekly pay and then you have the option to have up to 15% put into the fund on your own. Those that choose not to do that are crazy because it's so beneficial for long term goals.

Indiana's Governor, citing religious freedom is barring married gays and lesbians from restaurants, clubs, etc. in that state. Indiana business owners are pissed. What century is this? I'm confused.

The NCAA has its Final Four in Indiana this year and have contacted the Governor. They said that unless this law is changed Indiana won't be hosting any future tournaments.
