The "WTF" Thread

Yes I am afraid we do here. I do find that much of the street art conforms to what Prince Charles implied with his 'monsterous carbuncle; speech. It's not that the art is bad. On the contrary some of it is very good. It's just that I see streets and buildings as art in their original form, particularly with their natural patina with age. For instance, working class slums, whatever their history or actual living conditions, I think have their look. A gaudy painting in the middle kills it. It can even get toward the look of a shanty town or ghetto.

I will re-iterate though that there is no great jump between the vandal and 'accepted' artist. They all started somewhere, maybe with similar to the 'I woz ere' and steadily improved causing various strife on the way.  I wonder how many people get totally stressed out in some areas by the constant graffiti on their property, and even violence occurs in consequence. People also have different tastes in art.  Don't forget that new buildings require planning permission when they are contemplated. This usually considers whether they fit the area in looks etc.I know they don't get it right everytime for everyone but it generally works. Do these artists, such as Banksy apply for similar permission when thinking of a new area? Yes some streets are known for it. I do wonder if all the locals are happy with so much tourist attraction although I agree that it would be Ok if they were in agreement. Do they have any real say though? My suspicion is that it is more likely visitors and people who don't have to live with it. I think that my final note is that I suspect it unlikely that many who live down my street would be happy with anything that upset our peaceful area. Just my opinion though, but as you may realise, even though I am arty myself, I have strong opinions on this.

Luckily nothing was coming. 2 weeks ago at the same crossing two cars were written off and the drivers ended up in hospital for the same reason ....

Film is uploaded to FB and to the police.... Ive made an offical complaint of dangerous driving.
