I too am an organ donor....what prompted me was an article I read about a family who was trying to not get their son's organ's donated. He had checked he wanted to be...but the family was all up in arms about it.
When I am gone...IMHO...organs?? Take 'um......while you are at it..here is my address...I have a couple nice pieces of clothing in my closet and some killer power tools in the garage..have at it!
i was an organ donor, i signed the register, got my card then i changed my mind! I believe in afterlife, i believe that after you die you come back again, so i will need my organs when i come back, i know it sounds really selfish but it is what it is, i have thought about it more since, and who knows maybe one day i will suck up my selfishness and re sign again

Callie, I think that if one believes in the after-life you won't need a physical body; you'll be a spirit. Spirits don't require organs so please rethink your decision. When your time has passed a needing person may inherit your wonderful heart.
Some religions believe you have to be buried in the entirety. So much so, that when they are operated on, the bits will be kept for a later burial.
When the uk was colonising one country, the soldiers discovered this. After that, insurrection was punished by putting them in front of a cannon, and firing.
No way could all the bits be found, so the person would not go to heaven.
its not so much 'after life' idk really i have this convo alot, i actually did at the weekend with my parents, no one knows what happens once you pass, i think that maybe we come back as a animal, bug, just a spirit, or how do we know we dont start a new life as a whole new person but with the same organs, no one knows this. i guess im just a bit deluded to think that haha!! im looking into giving blood though.

i am looking into being a living donor though, i think that would be something very rewarding

There is now a scheme for kidney sharing. If you want to give a kidney to someone you know and it doesn't match, then you join a circle of similar donors. When you find a match for your friend/relative you agree to donate yours.
Sooner or later, the circle "ripens" and everyone in it, has found a match. The size of the circle is dependent on everyone being happy.

Historically, it comes very much with mixed messages. Many scots and irish ended up there, because english landlords burned down their homes, after they could not afford the heinous rent rises.
These rises were designed to allow the landlords to burn down their homes to get them off the land.
i think i wold donate to a stranger, to know that you saved someones life that you dont know would be amazing!
