I have said before that I am on a Van forum, it is of course open to women too, but few of us are daft enough to join.
It is actually quite amusing, and it is very full of grunting, back slapping and punching each other on the shoulders. All as cliche as you would expect.
What has stunned me is how much money they put into upgrading their vans, literally thousands. Just to make it go a little bit faster, look a little bit prettier, and quieter in the back.
They polish them to the nth degree, they have them painted, they add bits on, they take bits off, they lower them, raise them, bigger wheels, more electric bits etc etc etc
I get utterly engrossed every so often.
Last week I got a real fright though, I saw a van like mine going along and I thought to myself, those chrome door handles look rather nice.
After a quick mental slap, I carried on my way.
Anyone else out there "spying" on the guys, and ready to report back?
Haha, I don't go to men's forums... Aside from the ones I viewed after they harassed us at the old site. I would check them every now and then out of curiosity after the fact, but it was mainly the initial week of learning of them.
Those ones were more extreme, though! I'm not sure if I should even count them, but here were my thoughts on the ones I visited:
I was actually more... disappointed... to learn of how some men view women. Luckily it's not all of them, even on the more "extreme mindset" type forums, but it does make you sad to know how some really, truly, do not respect women as a whole. At least that is how they portray themselves online, but who knows how they are in person ;-)
I'm sure if I visited a women's forum similar to those men's forum I would be equally disappointed.... because forums like that exist to diss the opposite sex. I am not a fan of such places.

I don't go into men's forums, but I'm guessing that there could be some real men there; not just the woman-dissers. I think that you're right, Heather; some may have an online persona that's different from their true selves.

I bought myself Hummer l(the mini one) last summer.

Yeah, maybe.
Why do you think men don't like us sometimes.
To be honest, guys always are nicer to me than girls.
I always think it depends on the individual person, that is why I don't really understand generalizing and disliking everyone based simply on gender.
It does seem like some traits are more common in particular genders, however, this does not mean it will be a trait that is in every person of that gender, yet some believe that is the case.
lol yes, what is a mini hummer? I googled the hummer mentioned, and it was a limousine looking hummer. When I tried to find mini versions it showed me toy car hummers lol
"Mens forums" which pretty much translates into any forum not specially designed for women or women's interest. Because they do tend to take over don't they?
I used to belong to quite a few RP (role play) sites ran by men and it did my head in. So I created my own. Yes I am like that.
I also belong to some fan sites but hardly post. Some sites like BSN are super good at moderating and keeping the trolls at bay BUT they also tend to suck the fun right out of the forums too. Phhhtttt!
The Mary Sue doesn't have a forum but there "comment" community is REALLY good and very well moderated and of course female positive.
All that being said, because I am gay, I do share the love of women that men also share so in some ways I get along quite well with the men in forums that are shared. A think in some ways it really titillates them that I talk to them about women and I have found some of them have really used me as kind of a bridge to help understand women in some ways, They aren't scared to ask me certain questions in fear of offending me like that might otherwise do with hetro women.

This made me think of something else.... Any time I have seen women saying "women only" on the internet, for anything, men get offended (not all men, of course). I was lurking on Reddit before, and I saw a lot of women wanting to find other ladies to do activities with. Well, all I saw in the comments were men being angry and asking why she only wanted to do things with women; they treated her as if she was saying she hated men. It was so bizarre!
Men understand what it's like to want to just "hang with the boys", right? Some women like to do the same at times "with the girls", yet we're man haters if we state that publicly when seeking friendships online?
Look at me for example, I sign up to women only forums, and I subscribe to women only groups for gaming and such because I want to make female friends; sometimes I just want to talk to other women lol I'm a part of online groups that aren't gender specific, too, but I don't feel as comfortable announcing I am female on them.

It comes down to a old cultural idealism that women are more or less objects and objects that specifically exist for men (or at least the "male gaze") By doing anything that excludes them, some men they see it as taking something (an object) away that inherently exists for their pleasure only. Its the same reason some men in relationships isolate women from other women because they know that together women are stronger and will (in their mind) collude to weaken the man's control over his woman,
FB, and YT are the only other site I have belonged to.
With guys I like to give them their space.
I can't say they ever attacked me though.
When it comes to sex, which we all know is their main focus, I just find girls far more interesting, bc we tend to be more educated and broader about more topics.
I mean sex without intellect, challenges, etc. is so boring.
So I feel safer here where I can be expressive about far more than just male dominated sex stuff.
