Listening to public radio today, I heard something that I hadn't thought about. The "pilots" of these drones sit in control rooms and witness the damage that their bombs inflict. Jet pilots drop their bombs and are gone by the time they explode. It's having a negative effect on these chaired warriors when they actually see what they have done. War is never good, but now people are being killed by others thousands of miles away.
Yes, drones have the potential to wreak a lot more havoc than people firing guns or arrows at each other, and the ones doing the fighting don't even have to risk their lives, they get to just risk the lives of others.

You get a lot of cross bow wielding soldiers, and they can wreak havoc. They were the drones of their day.
As a footnote, it seems the pope/christians were a lot more christian back then. I expect most modern christians are supporting drones.....
The History of the Crossbow dates back to 600BC in Ancient China. The Greeks and the Romans were also known to use this deadly weapon. The Medieval crossbow was reintroduced to England by William the Conqueror and the Normans in 1066. The correct term for a crossbow is an Arbalest. The crossbow range was 350 – 400 yards but could only be shot at a rate of 2 bolts per minute. The crossbow was easy to use, requiring minimal training and required little strength to operate. The medieval Knight was the most powerful and effective warrior and said to be worth 10 foot soldiers, who were regarded with the lowest esteem and considered expendable. The crossbow could be used by an untrained soldier to injure or kill a knight in plate armour. The crossbow, itself, was therefore viewed as an inhuman weapon which required no skill and had no honour. It was even banned by the Pope!
A bow cannot blow up an entire village instantaneously, which is what I was referring to when I meant it can wreak more havoc. I never said bows can't wreak havoc, but can they cause the same amount or level of destruction as a bomb? No way! lol Arrows with fire attached are pretty brutal, though, but still not as bad as bombs.
Hm... are drones honorable? I would think only hand to hand combat is honorable, so everyone must go without armor and punch each other to death. Let's do this old-school! Maybe beat each other down with rocks and sticks?

Honourable?
I can't get that killing people in any way shape or form can be an honourable.
AND
If we are looking at heading backwards when hand to hand combat was how things were settled, we are looking at the return of the big brutal violent psycho killing machine type guy, flattening all around him.
No space for the intelligent, the moral, the fair minded, or the physically challenged. Technology has evened things up to a very large extent in that respect.
Well, I was mostly saying that based on the Pope banning crossbows. It made me wonder what was deemed honorable lol I really don't think there is an honorable way to kill anyone... other than to make sure both sides have an equal/fair advantage at killing one another, maybe.
How can you show respect for someone while killing them? The only type of honor they can have is reaching an agreement on how to kill each other and sticking to it... but that sure is silly.
..................... other than to make sure both sides have an equal/fair advantage at killing one another, maybe.............................
Now that is a great solution to any problem. By the time it is agreed what constitutes a "fair" fight, they will have forgotten why they wanted to fight.
It still freaks me out, but I think by now we also have the technology to stop certain things from happening (blowing up bombs before they reach us). Doesn't mean we're 100% safe, but safer... I guess..

War is failure!
We would rather kill people over religion and resources than compromise.
All countries, bar none, describe war as a defensive action where other choices are non existent.
Look at Israel. A country of clerics that have hijacked the leaders into terrorism.
Yes, war is terrorism to the innocent common citizens.
I am not too happy about the israeli attitude just now, hopefully they will return to acting in a reasonable fashion.
Israel is a beautiful citizenry, led by cleric hawks that refuse compromise.
If we really want Iran to abandon their nuclear bomb plans, Israel must be willing to give up theirs.
Unlike the US, most of EU recognizes Israel as a religious apartheid state, illegal anywhere else.
When Natalie Portman stood up to the Israeli's, and opened free "makeovers" clinics for suppressed Palestinian women, she showed the strength of an empowered women. I teared up reading how these poor women secretly flocked to them.
She should run for PM, and bring some peace to the ME.
