Hilary Clinton's Emails

So Hillary is forced to give a press conference to lapdog UN reporters. After listening to her boring comments, I think I’d have more respect for her if she had just come out and told the truth.

I mean there is absolutely no defense to what she did. She did it to evade accountability, at great risk to national security, and everyone understands it.

Bill was at least a good liar. My advice Hillary, just tell the truth and say something like….well what you said about Benghazi. “What difference does it make now?”

At least then I’d feel you didn’t think me a half-wit.

Cherry, have you followed the story on the letter sent to Iran by 47 Republicans? That issue is more international... and it involves the UK because we're all working toward an agreement together, after all.

Apparently there were 7 sane Republicans that didn't sign that letter. Those that did sign are undermining this country's efforts to find a solution to our current problem.

Yes, I'm glad they just shrugged it off as 'political propaganda'.

I actually believe that most politicians enter politics, initially, with the best intentions.

I read that on a US military base in Ohio soldiers are no longer permitted to say, “God bless you” or “have a blessed day”. Apparently an atheist complained.

I have two thoughts. One, would this not also require banning the use of the phrase, “God damn it”?

I mean if you are offended by someone suggesting your day can be affected favorably by a “higher power” then are you not offended a higher power might also cause harm?

I guess I’m more offended by the silliness of “political correct” speech which brings me to my second thought.

I’m not a student of the 1960’s hippie culture, communes and all that anti-establishment stuff. But I thought the point was to be free to express yourself as an individual through speech and action. Well what happened to liberals?

Funny, I’m a conservative and an admirer of the late William F. Buckley. His solution to objectionable speech was more speech, not less!

First, no laws broken?

Hillary Clinton hid these communications from the government itself in order to personally evade and frustrate the Freedom of Information Act, for her own political purposes. The Freedom of Information Act is a law and the basis of the AP’s law suit to get Hillary’s emails.

And it really should go further don’t you think. To Heather's point...

Barack Obama and his White House participated in the fraud no matter how much his team tries to spin it now. I think it should make everyone wonder whether Obama and his team had as much to gain as Hillary in conveniently losing a large part of the historical record on foreign policy and Benghazi.

GM (General Motors) may be “too big to fail”. But I think the US Federal Government is now “too big to be honest”.

I was referring to using the personal email as not being illegal because it's not. There were no actual rules in place for this, but maybe there should be.

"Experts" are the ones saying Clinton didn't violate federal laws, so I will agree with them for now.

All that can be said for certain is that it was poor judgement, but if we want to prevent such things from happening, then we need to create laws about everyone using official emails. Not just saying, "it's recommended" or "we would prefer this..".


AP has the lawsuit against the State Department because they did not respond to their requests; however, we have to keep in mind they do a first-come-first-serve type of deal typically, and there are thousands of requests, so it is not unheard of for requests to be "ignored". Plus, the State Department generally takes about 450 days on average to turn over records. At least, this is based on current practices, and I do believe there was intention to remedy this, but it was put on the back-burner. Maybe it's time to get back to finding a fix for this as well?

The newest lawsuit is mostly to bring attention to the urgency of wanting to review the emails, but they will still need to wait a few months for them to be sorted through. At least now their requests will be moved to the front of the line =p

AP's legal filings:

"State's failure to ensure that Secretary Clinton's governmental emails were retained and preserved by the agency, and its failure timely to seek out and search those emails in response to AP's requests, indicate at the very least that State has not engaged in the diligent, good-faith search that FOIA requires,"

Really, the State Department could have requested an extension to avoid this, but they may not have even viewed AP's requests in the first place; they probably only looked at their requests once the lawsuit came up.

I guess now my point is that this lawsuit does not prove that Hilary Clinton broke any laws under the FOIA; the lawsuit is not directed at her.

Speaking of emails and "losing historical records"... Remember what happened under President Bush? 5 million emails were lost. He used a non-goverment domain on an email server that was not official. The National Security Archive sued the White House over this. Also, I read about an executive order he issued for the FOIA in 2001 that restricted the access of records of former presidents. That is someone trying to hide information and be secretive to me. Luckily that was revoked in 2009, but still; isn't that kind of scary?

Corrupt government.... that is for sure.. and it's definitely not limited to the Obama administration, as you can see.

But I don't know, I have come to expect the government to lie and deceive us about many things, and it has nothing to do with size; it's all about mentality.

Not to mention the ones who are beginning to regret signing the letter.

Someone in particular discussed how it was (partially?) due to the impending snowstorms... you know, they were in a rush, didn't really think/talk it over enough, just signed it to get out and away before the snow.

No. I'm sure nothing will happen to any of them.

This is a fine example as to why I say politicians are a joke, and it wouldn't be the first time a politician said something so ridiculous.

I think it's a requirement of government officials to leave their brain at home before signing paperwork ;-)
