I think it varies with me. I get worries from time to time but fight my way past them, one way or another. It's whatever the worry of the moment might be. For instance, I would have moved quickly from Karen's crocodile but, here in the UK, it's not really a rational fear. I may well be terrified of getting caught up in a terrorist hostage situation but that's not really something to dwell on either.

Fear is a difficult emotion to hide. People have seen my fears: because I couldn't hide them. If someone is afraid of flying and they are on an airplane, their fear will show. In that way, people reacting to that fear isn't the person's fault. Also, if someone is afraid of snakes, if they were put in a room with a snake, their fear would show.
And how does someone erase their fears? They can't. Fear is extremely difficult to overcome.

No, I couldn't pin things down to a list.
Id be worried if I saw the croc Id get eaten while trying to get a good photo! We came across a wolf in the woods, were we scared no.. we said cool... and were dismayed it had run off so quickly we didnt get a shot at it.
Terrorists are not something I fear in this country and in the UK as a child there was always the threat of another bomb from the IRA but it was never fear just common sense and a bit of normal caution.. I think you like me mean ..... I may well be terrified if I got caught up in a terrorist hostage situation but that's not really something to dwell on either.

This is understandable. Knowing you could be badly injured or even killed would be terrifying. There have been people who've gone through it and survived, however.
One of my fears is being in the deep end of a swimming pool or the ocean. I fear deep water: I couldn't advance in my swimming classes because of it. I was scared every time my head went under the water and I feared drowning. Even today I can't go in the deep end of a swimming pool. No one understands this fear but I do. No amount of pressure has pushed me into going in the deep end. The fear is too great.
I would say, any major natural disaster because I experienced several of them as a child. It didn't bother me much as a child, thanks to the natural resilience of being young. However I knew personally its catastrophic impact to human lives. I would fear for my family just as my mother did back then.

I am funny in water as I have never really feared being in it but am wary of deep places. When I was little my father apparently rescued me from the sea once as I had walked into it up to my neck. I cannot swim well at all and trained myself. I was in a pool years ago and got out of my depth but, after intially panicking and nearly passing out I told myself not to panic and relax and think then strove for shallower water. I made it. After that I worried far less, just planinng how I would get across deep bits to the side. Things went well with my son too as he loved being in the pool and good a good set of awards. We used to go under the water, larking about. I used to love roly poly's although I did lose orientation after about the third spin and come up coughing at times
I can see your concern and would share similar over large expanses of deep. Like anything else though it does help to have an escape plan if prevention fails. Being familiar with immesion would help. Maybe you could go to the pool with a swimmer friend who could help you to push your limits, being less worried knowing you had help by your side?
An interesting aside on this was a documentary on fear and how it is learned.
They separated a baby monkey at birth, and on seeing a snake it was curious. A similar baby monkey that was not separated at birth was frightened, despite the mother being in a separate cage, and it never having seen a snake before.

I've seen the chimps at Monkey World react to a rubber snake. Most were born in captivity certainly none of them had seen a snake before most of them were Circus chimps who had been rescued.. but the mere sight of a rubber snake sent the whole troop into a panic, they screamed and yelled and then the bravest of them hurled sticks and stones at the offending animal. When they were sure it was not moving they got a little closer and with long sticks they beat it..while the other chimps sat high up and screamed encouragingly.
