The widely practiced loving-kindness (goodwill/ metta) meditation is about eleminating the anger and developing the goodwill towards every living-being in this universe without exception.
This is not a narrow minded practice like 'love' which is directed only towards the living-beings that one is attracted. Instead, universal goodwill is developed, for gaining uncountable benefits that cannot be guessed before starting the meditation.
I would begin with stating the drawbacks of anger by quoting some sayings from different people. Later in another post, I hope to give details I found, on how to radiate goodwill towards everyone.

* Where there is anger, there is always pain underneath.
* Anger is a killing thing: it kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had been before - it takes something from him.
* Anger, resentment, and jealousy doesn't change the heart of others-- it only changes yours.
* Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. (The Buddha)
* Being angry: the art of showing weakness.
* Don't waste your time in anger, regrets, worries, and grudges. Life is too short to be unhappy.
* For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace.
* Holding on to anger, resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles, a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth.
* The more anger towards the past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.
* The trouble with anger is, it gets hold of you. And then you aren't the master of yourself anymore. Anger is.
* How much better to heal than seek revenge from injury.
* The greatest remedy for anger is delay.
* Whenever you are angry, be assured that it is not only a present evil, but that you have increased a habit.
* Never go to bed angry.
* Anger glances in the breasts of wise men; but rests in the bosom of fools.
* Anger is a fuel.
* Anger resembles the fire. Like the fire if you keep feeding it, it will get stronger and harm you. If you stop feeding anger with your attention, it will fade away.
* A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green.
* The best answer to anger is silence.
* I know of no more disagreeable situation than to be left feeling generally angry without anybody in particular to be angry at.
* When anger rises, think of the consequences.
