Sorry for posting here, but I have a question. I can't discuss it with my relatives or friends. There is a man harassing me. He ignores any rejections and sends money for no reason. It feels like he is some kind of criminal. I have deleted my Instagram and even changed my phone number. What type of man is that, and what should I expect?

I presume from your text, you have made clear, that you have no interest in a relationship with him?

I think it is time to go down to your local police station and report what it is that you are facing. They will be able to advise you on whether he is breaking any laws, and how best to deal with him from here on.

They will be very experienced in this sort of problem, and will be able to give better advice than I can.

This did happen to a friend of mine some years ago, and it got dealt with after the police warned the guy that they were watching out for her.

Im late to this but I agree with the others go to the police NOW and I would add, make a paper trail make sure that you email or write everything down, keep a diary complain in wiriting EVERY time he harrases you, that way its not your word against his.

The police will then have a record of each time something has happened . Also be aware that sometimes when you report someone they get angry or more persistant so let people around you know whats happening let them know in clear terms that this man is scaring you. Tell them they are never to tell this man anything about you, where you are going or how to contact you.

Do not engage in any conversation with him and try to have someone close if you have to get near him..

I am presuming that you don't have a government job or any other situation where it would be more than a social issue? It does sound a bit strange, unless of course they are trying to avoid conscription and maybe looking for somewhere to escape to? I am saying this from reading between the lines of what we read here of the current situation in Russia.

Ok. Well knowing this information does shed a different light on things.
If this man is putting money into your bank or other online accounts such as pay pal you can block them and stop payments.

That is a tricky situation to be in.

So, he's more of an internet stalker? You may be able to report it to a cybercrime unit of some sort, if your country has anything like that. I'm not sure if things would need to escalate further before you can even report it, though, as that is unfortunately what you tend to hear.

Even if he is in another country, I wouldn't hesitate to do what a lot of these women say and alert the police. They have while divisions that they can turn that report over to that can try to find this man. They do cross coordinating as well and will let his country know. Maybe he does this kind of thing over there too and you would be helping another woman with your report.

Your safety is always first. I know it seems minor since he doesn't live where you do, but criminals and weird people have had to turn to different things since COVID, so protocols are evolving too. Safety first! Take care of YOU and cover all the bases!
