Music - What are you listening to?

I love this

This girl has an amazing range.

The beatles, to me, are a radio band. That means if they come on, they are ok as background singalong, but I would never choose their music.

I have to agree with Cher.

To me they sound almost like tinny.

You know, too much treble or something.

Yeah I like bass.

Right time, right place.

Today they remain largely ignored.

My mom says she preferred the Stones music over the Beatles.

She claims Beatles success was in part to brilliant marketing and management.

Although I do see Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album rather prominently displayed.

As I said, I am not much of a fan, they were certainly on the crest of the wave, whether or not they were the wave, I am unsure.

I now find my beatles preferences to be their more whimsical stuff like this:

I youtubed The Beatles performing on The Ed Sullivan Show, circa 1963. The girls in the audience were screaming! I agree with Auttie; no rock band in history has influenced people like The Beatles have.

I know of Robert Johnson, and let us not forget about Chuck Berry! But, The Beatles took it to another level. Before The Beatles, it was just rock and roll. Sir Paul and the lads threw cool melodies in there that transformed traditional R&R into something different.

I would say Robert defo influenced blues heavily but his influence on rock/pop as an industry is open to debate. There are only two names in rock/pop and they are Elvis and The Beatles (regardless how we might personally like or dislike their music).  That being said both Elvis and The Beatles were HEAVILY influenced by the blues so there is a chain of events that can be argued. Robert influenced the sound and feel of the blues that led to rock/pop but he did not make either a household phenomenon. 

 Robert did not directly influence rock and pop especially on the scale that both Elvis and The Beatles did. Elvis and The Beatles made rock and pop billion dollars industry and forced them both into main stream western culture and the way we listen to and buy music today lay pretty much at their feet (for good or bad).  The roots of rock and pop can be traced back to Robert and his contemporaries but it was Elvis and The Beatles that made the Rock/Pop industry the amazing force it is today.  

That's why music is great! We may disagree as far as the artists are concerned, but that pales in comparison to living in a World without music. Hey my favourite band (Mana) comes from Mexico!

They rock! So many people think that Mexican bands just do "hat-dance" music, but we know better, Cher.

I just listened to "Rather Be" - Jasmine Thompson. I love her voice.
