Hello all.
I recently came over here because I needed support and guidance, along with forming friendships. I posted on Reddit asking for advice and basically got torn apart and destroyed for looking masculine. It was so hurtful I took down my account and discovered this website. I am looking to freshen up my look so I can look more feminine! I was thinking of growing my hair longer with soft layers. I had microblading and nose filler done to balance out my face more. I included a link to show you some pictures.

I took down Reddit because it’s so toxic. I have a feeling most of the people commenting were young teenage boys or men in their twenties who wanted to tear someone down. I honestly felt so ashamed of myself I felt hopeless. You can change your weight or hair style but you can’t change your features you know? Thank you for your kind words.

OK, I see where you are coming from.
The hair style, colour and texture - keep that, it looks lovely.
The eyes, eyebrows, and nose - you can keep those too, they are just fine. Those eyes are a particlularly lovely colour.
The lips look fine as does the gentle, natural smile.
Your body shape. That looks healthy and perfectly natural. You look like someone who has got a nice shape, and who is not obsessed by their weight. But, who wants to look like a bean pole anyway? I certainly never met a man who wanted a stick thin girl either.
Your general all over look is good, though I wouldn't have matched the red skirt with that top. Sorry, that's as nasty as I can be about your pictures.

I laughed so hard over the shirt and the red skirt. It was hot that day and I just threw on whatever would keep me cool :-P
I am working on maintaining a healthy weight although I would like to slim down. I am close to 140 and 5’1. The older I get the harder it is to stay thin. I am also a pear shape too if that helps for context. When I was in the military I was 113 pounds! I was my skinniest although a little too skinny for my frame. 😁

I was older than you when I went from grossly obese to slim, and I have maintained my weight for a good few years now. We do have a dieting thread. I have found it really helpful.
Welcome to the shorties club, we are a sub group on the forum lol, There are a few of us around your height. I am 5'2"

Congrats on the weight loss! What was your starting weight? At this point I am focusing on eating healthier and taking daily walks; ideally I would like to be 129-132. I am currently 138 lbs.

It’s just making me self-conscious that people on Reddit were telling me that, mainly from men. I want to be feminine and pretty like a regular woman!
Remember, men don't define what feminine is. If they did none of us would ever be up to their standards which are totally out of line. Do what makes you feel good. Your a woman, your feminine, don't listen to what men say. Be yourself and be happy.

I honestly don't remember. What I do remember was my bmi being in the red zone.

People can be nasty online, so I really wouldn't take what they say to heart. You look feminine enough to me, but this is from someone who has always been told my personality is masculine or "lesbian" (their words, not mine)
People come in all shapes, sizes, features, and personalities.... we do not have to strive to fit into any mold. Be yourself. Dress how you enjoy.
I'm not into style... or looking feminine. I just throw on random comfy clothes and probably look homeless sometimes, but I do not care. We are not here to impress others... so just be content with yourself, and that's all you really need.
Oh yeah, and when I was a teenager... we'd share pictures on AOL, and I had a guy say my nose looked broken and that I looked like Howard Stern Neither of which is even remotely true. Some like to just be mean to be funny to others (not the person they are saying the mean things to/about), but they are just AHs.
I also had guys on dating sites approach me by dissing me, thinking it would get my attention and make me interested. They would tell me I looked like I'd be vapid and self-centered.. another thing that couldn't be further from the truth.
Do not listen to people who are like that.

Oh man…that brings me back to the days where I’d use AIM. Asl anyone? Lol. Most times it’s men who are so rude and vile on the internet when it comes to putting down people for their looks. I remember the one time I had a guy tell me he keeps trolling me because of my reaction. Then he wanted me to send nudes and told me he had a wife! They really do thrive on people getting upset. I love hearing stories about dating sites so if you have any more weird/funny ones to share then please do so! 😂

I am a little late to the party and would agree with other comments here.
The main things to remember, are my opinion, is that the internet is a bit like a minefield with lots of negativity waiting to trip you up, and the other one is to follow your path and be confident in yourself. Don't spend time trying to chase an image which is presented by others as you will end up running round in circles. There will always be people ready to criticise, particularly if they are not so hot themselves.

I would appreciate any constructive feedback on how I can improve my appearance. Thank you!
Incidentally, that sort of negative opinion, will result in at least a warning on this forum. Our target for this forum is that it will be pleasant. We don't tolerate such behaviour.

I think the main problem with websites like Reddit is they don’t warn or ban people for being straight up trolls. They even have subreddits specifically for bullying people. The internet is a wild thing.
Thank you all for the encouraging and kind words. I am 33 and comfortable with myself for the most part but sometimes 15 year old me creeps in and fixates on flaws or negative self-image. Trying to work on loving myself more.

Pay no attention to those who are "brave" when hiding behind a computer screen, but wouldn't have the courage to be rude to your face
This I agree fully with. It is very easy to insult someone from behind a computer screen but IRL they'd be too scared. They do it because they are cowards and aren't worth a jot of your time.

True, I am open to constructive criticism on ways to improve my looks however being downright rude is uncalled for.

I really can't disagree enough with this post.
There are a lot of crazies out there, and if people don't wish to have a go at them face to face, I can respect that. I am one myself, and I am still alive, and my nose has not been flattened since I realised this fact.
Maybe you should not be antagonising people online. But if they are putting themselves up for it. Then they have to learn to take the rough with the smooth, or do without.
Besides which. Who draws the line? I have been doing forums since 2k, and I have learned a lot, and just because this site does not approve of such actions, why should every other site have to conform to our standards?
I do notice that every next site does have it's own set of rules, both formal and informal. Often the only way to deal with it is to pull the plug as others may not be reading things the same way as you.

Yup which is exactly the reason I took down Reddit. It wasn’t good for my mental health even though I did learn some valuable information from it.

If it isn't something you are enjoying, then absolutely.
