Greetings.
My name is Laura and I am looking to make friends, seek/give advice and learn some new things! I love beauty and collecting vinyl records. Nice to meet you all!

Hi, Laura!
Do you have any good finds in your vinyl collection? Any newer items? I collect secondhand vinyl that's cheap or free, and have a turntable in my bedroom. Gotta remember to turn it on more often... It also has a cassette player built-in, so I can keep a few tapes around from my younger days.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!
I collect mainly oldies such as classic and psychedelic rock (think Beatles and The Doors) oh and Pink Floyd. I also like Nu Wave music and have a Joy Division record which I like and am hoping to collect more. I am 33 years old but I am an old soul at heart and believe I lived in the 60s in the past ;-)

I too like old records and have some of those you mention. I do go a bit further back and have some 78's as well. I just never seem to get round to playing them much

Jen,
That’s awesome. What music are you into? I was born in the 90s and so I grew up with CD players and MP3 players. Never had an iPod touch but I do use Spotify to try out albums. There is something about listening to music on a turntable!

a_muppet,
Which vinyls were worth a lot if you don’t mind me asking? You’re better off not being with your ex if he was quick to toss them out!! He could have at least donated them.
I had plenty. I had 1 live badger, Lord sutch, the sharks original, fleetwood mac first album, steve hillage green, I also had a lot of the free flexi vinyl eps, including Exile on Main st
He sold them at a car boot sale.
It's only things, I am not bothered, I just think "what a waste".
I could goout nd buy them if I wanted to.
Just remembered, he sold all my Snoopy books. I had about 20 of them.

Sounds like you had good stuff.
How long were you two together for? Were you married or dating? From the sounds of it seems like he was pretty spiteful. Hopefully you’re doing much better now and/or found someone who respects and deserves you!!

Way too long. We got married when I didn't know any better. Low self esteem helped me choose that one.

My tastes are probably more back in the seventies but they are wide. It's often things which are unusual rather than mainstream. When I was buying a lot of records they were mainly lp's rather than singles. I have never got rid of any so still have them. Apart from bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple I do have some earlier things as I collected most of the early Rolling Stones albums. I have a few Doors and liked Creedance Clearwater Revival too although I only have one lp.
Here's one which I have, on CD, which is a good one for halloween:

Happily married now...
How about you?
I’m glad you moved on and found love again (in all the right places!).
I am currently living with my boyfriend in Pennsylvania. We just celebrated our one year anniversary! I too have suffered from a string of toxic relationships all through out my twenties. I can’t imagine life without my current partner.

I love Black Sabbath and The Doors! They were one of the first groups I listened to when I was a teenager in the early 2000s. I also grew up listening to CCR since my parents both listened to classic and progressive rock. My vinyl collection includes The Beatles, The Doors, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, Joy Division, The Everly Brothers, and some Motown hits from the Four Tops. I still have so many more albums to collect it’s been a major hobby of mine.
Btw love the song! It definitely gives me female Rob Zombie vibes. :-P Also kinda reminds me a little of the lead singer from Spiritbox except no screaming heh.
