That I got a lot done with my plants yesterday so I may be able to relax a little more today. The washing has been done overnight so the basket is almost empty and all being well things should dry on the line well today.
I did notice, while out yesterday, that the brambles are invading behind the shed though. Perhaps a job for Saturday morning early on

aka the scourge!
I am grateful that I got the brambles sorted this morning without major wounds

We have thornless brambles. Lovely sized fruits too.
These have invaded from some unkept land at the bottom of the garden and are wild ones which keep coming back. It's irritating when I think back to when I picked the main crop of gooseberries the other day. They have spines too which can come sharp but I've found with them that I can brush up the branches with an arm and pick the gooseberries without too much bother. Not so brambles which seem designed to hook from any angle

They are very efficient predators. They will also grow 3 inches a day.
I'm grateful for where I live. I watched the news this morning and saw some terrible sights, then I went out to walk my dogs green fields stretched both sides of me. They were filled not with soldiers or ruins but with sheep and cows, long grass waving in the breeze and a couple of tractors in the distance the birds circling overhead storks, oyster catchers, Marsh harriers etc... yes I'm grateful..

It's something I think every day. Things could be better but, being very close to similar it does cheer me greatly, as they could be far worse.
A sad thought is that the Ukraine looks like a very similar place too but is being needlessly ravaged

I feel you.
I've watched all too many crime shows, where in the city - whether in a train or bus station - someone is beaten or murdered. That's why I don't go out at night and avoid late nights out. It's OK when I'm with my social group but I'd never wander around London or even my local town at night.
This man was safely in his car near a train station in the city when some random man walked up to the car and began assaulting the driver. The driver/passenger lost his life after being stabbed.
If he'd stayed in that night, watching television, he'd still be alive today.
I was probably lucky although was never really a night life girl. It's usually about reading the signs and being streetwise but obviously luck does come into it. I worried less about being out in the country at night as most people avoid the dark.

Streetwise and luck yes, and being aware of your surroundings.. I see these girls on tv wearing scanty clothes and being so drunk they cant stand up and I wonder how they ever get home in one piece I could never allow myself to be so vunerable.
I was followed once in a shop I realised it when the man stood too close on the escalator, I got off and went into the lingerie dept for about 10 mins but the moment I got back on the escalator he was there behind me. I needed to get my car from the underground car park but no way was I going to let him follow me there so I went into a revolving door and instead of stepping out inside the building that had the entrace to the car park I went all the way round and as soon as I had enough room to get out I shoved against the doors causing it to jam ( safety feature) and I ran round the other side of the building and into another entrance. As I exited the car park I spotted him standing on the curb looking around..
Here in the country I feel safe walking in the woods or the common and I noticed when I was in Germany that the only people out at 6am in the woods were women walking dogs !

Statistically, I read, that you are more likely to be assaulted in urban areas. But you are more likely to be murdered in the countryside.
I miss my nightlife. All my friends got old before I did. I wouldn't mind, but they were all younger than me. [rude insult deleted by a_muppet]
I'm grateful for indoor plumbing. Usually, we think nothing of it, but reading my great-aunt's stories from the 1920's reminded me that I should be grateful for water from an indoor tap, plus an indoor toilet!

Growing up out in the countryside I do remember that we only had an outdoor toilet when I was small. A non flushing one at that. Farmers were very slow to upgrade their workers houses years ago until, I suspect, government grants maybe came along or regulations? We always had indoor water though but not a bathroom. One of the first houses that I lived in, although I don't remember it as it was soon after I was born, didn't even have electricity.
I was grateful that, accepting things as the norm, I didn't feel hard done by. I just realise more how bad things can get and you can still be happy. I also think (or would like to?) that if things went really bad life would still be possible.
