In the Netherland we travel with a pre paid travel card called an OV, it turns out people have been loosing them or they run over date and people renew but forget to claim back remaining credit on the old card, as a result the ticket company now has 30 million euro in unclaimed pre paid fares.. They are urging people to claim back the money from their old OV cards..
Well you can claim for up to five years after your card expires after that the money goes to the company..This was last years solution.
The problem is particularly acute for people with anonymous cards, because Translink cannot contact them to remind them that they are owed money.
Users can claim the cash back up to five years after the card has expired and there are still 6.45 million anonymous cards in circulation
It had been agreed that money left unclaimed would be donated to charity. Last year, however, just €80,000 was paid to a charity run by television celebrity Linda de Mol, while Translink paid itself €4.1 million for IT services. An additional €500,000 went into providing cards for refugees from Ukraine, the AD said.
Users with an expired card less than five years old can check online to see if there is still cash on the card and claim it back.
Translink is owned by the public transport companies which use it.
I've decided to keep monitoring the dollar conversion until it's a good time to book. I'll see if it goes as low as what I think is enough. It's going strong on my side at the moment. Extra savings would go to mandatory gratuity (US$174 for 4 days) and tipping, too.
This is somewhat true. However, there are places I won't return to. And yes: because it'd be unnerving.
Driving past my childhood home town on the coach to the airport was deeply unnerving. I was curious but glad I had moved away from there years ago.
Interestingly I get more strange feelings about places where I have worked rather than places I have lived. I do live withing walking distance of my childhood home though so do see it occasionally. The area has changed in many ways though so a lot of the link has gone.

I am in Sweden now. My brother and girlfriend go across Sweden on a train in a few days time. I am going on the buses daily and wandering around the shopping centre every day. I also eat out for lunch and dinner.

It is nice here!
Im glad youre having a good time. Any tips? How is the public transport there? Does it run on time? Is it safe/ clean?
Sweden was full of people: on buses/trams. My sister and I would catch a taxi sometimes to get somewhere. Oh: the Christmas lights were spectacular. Also in the Winter Wonderland at nighttime. There were food and jewellery markets. There were loads of people milling about. My sister took millions of photos. We'd rest in the evening after going out for dinner. One-night my brother and his girlfriend sat together in a bar in Goteberg. We had drinks and laughed and chatted. Of course the evening came to an end, but it was a happy night.
The food over there was delicious: we had lunch and dinners out, as I've already said. We had a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. We also wandered around two different shopping centres: both day and night. We tried on millions of clothes but only bought those that fit correctly. My sister also bought me LOADS of earrings. I do completely love wearing earrings.
My brother and girlfriend bought a massive bag of sweets: I'd've liked some myself but weren't allowed. We also ate Swedish sweet treats. Gorgeous pastry. My sister and I also went food shopping a few times. We even ate at home for one or two nights. Really, really nice food.
Sweden is a trip I won't forget in a hurry. It was an adventure.

I went to IKEA yesterday: it was more relaxed than it would be on a Saturday. It was a good day and sold loads of really good household items and food.
We are trying a different line this time and we are revisting a couple of ports. First is a stopover at MSC's private island in the Bahama's then its off to Costa Maya and then to Cozumel in Mexico.

Sounds exotic.
We are starting to get fed up with the same shows on our cruise line P&O. Do yours vary better?

I know with Norwegian, which we usually sail on has never disappointed, always new and different shows. As fafr as MSC goes this will be our first time so I can't know how often they change theirs.

We looked at MSC just a few days ago, but the website was hard to manage. WE would be grateful for a review.

I know, they don't have the best website. Of course I will give you an honest review. We are trying their Yacht Club which is like the Haven on Norwegian. Looking at what that offers it is quite a more than Norwegian which we do love. I can't wait to experience it and make my own determination.

I have no idea what those mean.
We have only been P&O.
They are separate areas on the ship that has suites and extra amenities that you pay a premium for.
Has anyone done any train journey (2 or more nights) in USA? What's your experience and would you recommend it?
I wish I could help but never have. I have thought about it though.
Thanks Karen. It's in my adventure list and I wonder if taking the California Zephyr is good. It's a hit or miss with Amtrak, I know. I don't mind a few hours late (experienced it once) but not a whole day.
