Do you gain new confidence? I am 36 and always heard you gain a certain confidence in your 30's and while I feel more confident now than in my 20's, I wish I had less anxiety about life.

I do think anxiety (and depression) gets in the way of confidence regardless of age, as it alters our perception of ourselves and creates a sense of being unsure about a lot of things.

Not so much confidence, but a certain amount of contentment in who I am as a person and not caring so much about what other people think. Like Cherry said above, a certain amount of courage to try new things.

I think that confidence is more to do with understanding a subject to the extent that your anxiety about it is fairly minimal. It is usually gained in work. Life, on the other hand, is not something someone can fully understand so I would think that you are probably right. Confidence in life may just be understanding some part or parts well enough to mislead(?) people that you are confident.
