This is a thread that will celebrate things that remind us of important events, either sad or happy, and whatever can bring those memories flooding back.
This song. I remember listening to it while in my car-seat! I loved it, and it just brings those memories back. My mom played the Raffi CD, but this is the song I remember..
This song I had hardly noticed when it was in the charts and on the radio.
However I actually listened to it properly just after I left the ex. It was on the radio in the staff room and I found myself listening intently when I spotted the lyrics and for ages I was laughing about it. Even now, it brings a smile to my face.
and more recently this guy Michael Buble [pronounced boo blay] He has a fantastic voice, and I don't think he has hit america yet. But he is also singing of his escape.

Oh, I just thought of a song that completely fit how I felt about my ex after leaving him, and it made me feel good:
Oh, funny, that video was posted the same month and year I broke up with him, too lol
Michael Buble hit America years ago =p Canada is closer to us, you know!! ;-) I really only ever heard the "Haven't Met You Yet" song, that is a sweet song.

when i was younger, like from almost crawling stage onwards, i stayed over a my grandma & grandads every weekend, on a night my grandma would take me to bed, she would tuck me in, give me a kiss and say 'Good night baby, sleep tight & don't let the bed bugs bite. I love you to the stars and back again' the other night i took Malakai to bed, i gave him a kiss and said the exact same thing, i walked out of the room with tears running down my face but also smiling. crying because it brought back so many memories, but smiling because omg, im turning into my grandma.
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait ‘til tomorrow For babies grow up we've learnt to our sorrow, So quiet down cobwebs Dust go to sleep I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep

My dad simply didn't expect a daughter like me I think. Apparently we were very close until I was about 5, and then he decided he should be a bit harder on me. We never got along again until I moved out, then we became close again. That was nice, but it did not last very long as he died prematurely in his early 60's.
It was the evening after the funeral and I drove my car up to the local hills to look over the bay and think of my dad.
The album in the car was The River by Springsteen and this song Independence Day encapsulated my feelings. He died before any grandchildren, so his memory will die in only one generation.

Cher, The Wilburys may be the best collaboration of rock stars ever! And you chose a great song. I just listened to Handle With Care again. Harrison, Orbison, Dylan, Lynne, and Petty; it doesn't get much better than that. Is it still your favourite?

This was "our" very first song. Hearing it reminds me that there actually was a time before we were together. I recall having to look up what "feenin" was. What a marvelous word.
I remember Macy Grey was going to be the next big thing, but it seems that one song well written and beautifully sung were all she had in her. Hasn't she got a big mouth though?
Isn't if funny how songs can be so powerful? Smells also do it for me. Whenever I smell a lilac bush, it reminds me of my grandmother and the lilac bushes she had growing around her house.
Also, eating fresh English peas. She would send me out to her garden to pick the peas and I would end up eating more than I picked!

When I got my first period, my dad took me out to a nice, fancy dinner. He gave me a beautiful red ruby ring, that still wear sometimes today. It was so special. My dad is special.
Michelle, that reminded me of my first period experience.
My mom took me out to purchase a video game because I was pretty bummed about entering "womanhood". She wanted me to know I could still be exactly as I was because I was afraid that I'd have to be more girly and stop doing everything I enjoyed now that I had my period lol
So... I picked out a video game about this female spy who kicked butt :-) It sure helped!

the first time i got my period i was complaining of tummy pains when my mum said 'well that will teach you not to eat so much and drink so many slush puppies' then when i went to the loo noticed the blood i shouted my mum and she came in the toilet to explain how to use a pad, told me to flush it down the loo and not in the bin because, in her words, 'i dont use them so i dont want to see them' it wasnt until one came back up the loo one day that she told me to take them out to the bin haha

When my daughter was just a toddler, she would insist on me taking her out in the garden when it got dark, so she could sing "twinkle, twinkle little star"
It was all very cute but it coincided with the coldest winter on record, and when we were struggling to keep the house warm as we could not pay the bills.
Some nights, I would be shaking so violently, and I would be praying that one verse was enough tonight.
I often remember that when I see the brightly shining North star.
