One of my proudest moments was in London. My daughter had a painting in the Tate Modern. She was about 14, and we got a free trip to see it on the wall.

Congratulations for this young artist ! A good thing for adolescents to love an art, to have a passion. I am sure it helped her in her studies. My favourite colours are the seven colours of the rainbow. Do you remember this song : Red and yellow and pink and green Orange and purple and blue I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too Listen with your eyes, listen with your eyes And sing everything you see You can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, Sing along with me... Red and yellow and pink and green... Quite a "vintage" song ! Love and hugs to everyone ! xxx

I love purple.
I also go for pink, but it has to be a pastel shade (not neon pink though).
A lot really depends on the item in question. If I find a beautiful item of clothing in another colour, e.g. dress, blouse or heels, then I wouldn't dismiss them on colour alone.
I also tend to go through colour phases from time to time. I guess I am a little fickle in that respect

As an artist I can relate to that well
I imagine you are a colour expert Jen
Knowing which colours compliment each other, to make a perfect composition, and which ones clash that would spoil the mood of a scene.
I used to draw when I was younger, with pencils and sketch pad, but I never dabbled in paints.
I haven't drawn anything in ages, but I suppose I would still have the muscle memory to do so again (if I had the motivation or inclination that is )
Absolutely any color, to be honest. I like palettes, combinations of colors related to motifs. Every color has its fuction and meaning in some context or combination, and i often don't like singular things as much because my tastes change A LOT and fast, so yeah!

It gets a bit involved with colour as there are misconceptions which you learn at an early age which take some while to get your head around in more advanced things (at least I do anyway) but it's all learning and experimenting, which I love to do.
From my view though, you are doing yourself a disservice in that you do have experience with colour and art. With nail art and the work you do you are a professional artist, at least in your limited field. There are colours which work better with people of a certain complexion or dress and so on. Even styles for occasions. I imagine it's a lot more complicated than simply picking a colour as I have done in the past.

I think you are correct there Jen. I have never really looked at it that way before.
It is true, I do know which colours work well in my nail art, but I have never really been inclined to do that on a canvas with paints.
In your case though Jen, your skill also lies in knowing how to apply all those colours into a beautiful scene, be it a landscape or portrait.
My drawing has all been self-taught so I suppose in a way I have/had a natural talent for it.
I would like to see some of your work on here some time (if you wish to share of course, so no pressure if you don't want to.)
I haven't kept any of my artwork, so unless I started again I have nothing to show.

My avatar is an (old) example of my work (a copy of a Rubens) and there are one or two bits here somewhere but I haven't put anything on recently. Perhaps I need to find a local scene and show the original and a painting? You are not the first so I really need to get something together. - www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q60709019

That is amazing Jen - a really good likeness
When I used to do my drawings I have to confess that I couldn't draw a good likeness of any subject from memory.
I much prefer to have the subject in from of me to copy from. Not to trace mind you, that would be cheating.
My specialty was drawing hair and fur, of which I took great pains and time to get it right.
In fact, I am considering doing a design for Heather, just to see if I have retained my previous knack for drawing.
I will only reveal it if I am happy with it, and I don't disgrace Heather

Very few people can daw a good Likeness from memory, and that includes me.
I usually work from photographs although I do go out with our art group from time to time, 'en plein air' as they say. I do occasionally draw and paint objects or plants indoors.
Tracing may sound like cheating but it isn't really. Don't forget that years ago artists used to use things like the camera obscura and there are lots of sketches around from some of the great artists who have used the grid system to get their proportions correct. In my opinion idea is to get your vision across as you would like it. Not particularly how you do it. Otherwise you could actually say that all digital art is cheating? I suppose it could get too far as it would be really easy these days to use a robot with AI to copy a painting, photo or even live scene.
The mind boggles! So many angles. For anyone, perhaps just do your thing and show your results to the world
I’m rather fond of purple, baby blue, and a good, deep red. But, like the British weather, my preferences can be quite changeable. When I was expecting my second child, I developed an inexplicable affection for the colour yellow. Everything had to be yellow! I daresay my husband was half-expecting me to give birth to a lemon! 🍋

Another on that likes purple.
Yes, indeed... I do love purple in all its shades and tones...
