Sometimes elders regret about their behavior in teenage. Then they might either want to forget it or hide it.

Especially elders tend to hide their past when they want to advice youngers who do the same mistakes they did.

If youngers know elders' past, they tend to argue back and be disobedient. So some elders hide their past and appear like siants, at least infront of their youngers. haha.

My parents, especially Mom, presented themselves as being "without sin," even though they claimed to be young, once. I think that I would have respected Mom more had I known all the mistakes she learned from instead of just ordering me around for no apparent reason.

In 2019, about three weeks after she moved into the memory care facility, she was hospitalized after a fall (for observation) which required several stitches on her forehead. During one of my visits, she made some confessions and said she regretted them. To this day, I have no idea whether it was the truth or the dementia talking. I didn't press her for details (though they would have been nice to know). I just told her that she shouldn't feel so bad. It was in the past and should stay there.

I am definitely not taking after my mom, probably got some from my dad. I am glad the way my son turns out.
