I'd say I was fairly successful with online dating. That is, afterall how I met my fiance.
My profile was just a picture of me and me saying something along the lines of
"I'm not sure how well online dating will work, and I don't feel like posting everything about me on my profile, so if you are interested, just ask. Also, no mirror pics. I will not talk to you if your pic is a mirror pic"
I got lots of messages!
However, I do feel it has more to do with my picture than anything else.
Oh boy, I feel I have opened a can of worms. So here is my take on mirror pics:
Yes, they are ones where you take a pic of yourself in the mirror.
The pictures themselves are not the issue, the issue I have is that if you are on an online dating site, you are representing your best "self."
To me, if your only pictures are pictures you take of yourself in the mirror, it makes me wonder why you can't have someone else taking a picture of you, or if you have any friends (I am paranoid)
I should also note that mirror pics are different if you are a girl as opposed to a guy. Girls take a million mirror pics, but I think that is a part of who we are and what society deems as socially acceptable. I suppose I have a double standard.
When a guy takes a pic of himself in the mirror, it really makes me wonder if he is vain, if he has friends, and why is it that the best pic he has of himself a mirror pic?
On my profile, I had 4 pics of me and they were all pictures of me out and about having a good time (but you can clearly see my face)
Makes sense. There are a lot of people who lack humility on dating sites. It's all about bragging and making yourself seem better than you are lol not me.
I used to be on OK Cupid.... looking for friends. I never really made any friends because everyone wanted to date me.. even women. Some people got so desperate and obsessed, as if I was their last chance at ever finding love... when they knew nothing about me. Some men would swear I was perfect for them, based on a few pictures and a few sentences. Ridiculous..
Also, I had people who would insult my intelligence (and my character overall) because they found me attractive and assumed you can't be intelligent, kind, and attractive. Some guys like to be rude in order to get your attention, but that is such a turn off for me. I feel sorry for the women that works on.
Humble and nice people with a sense of humor.. That is what I like! Too many people will pretend like they are those things, too... I just wish people would be more honest from the start.

That's fair enough, Suzie. You can't help what you find a turn off.
I think guys get bad reactions of us and end up going lowest denominator ie a quick copy and paste on the principle that one kiss is worth a dozen slaps.
