Just wondering how many others on here suffer from migraines? Have had of and on for about 18 years. Recently had been going ok but lately seem to be starting to get them more often again:(

I used to get them more often than now. I usually woke up with them. My head would pound, I would feel nauseated whenever sitting or standing up. I would lie down and take acetaminophen every couple of hours until I felt better, usually mid-afternoon. After forcing myself to eat something, I would feel right by late-afternoon.
The only time I ever tossed my cookies during a migraine was when it developed during the day once.
During a dental visit, it was noted that I grind my teeth at night. After being fitted with and wearing a night guard, my migraines reduced significantly, though I might get one on an annual or semiannual basis.

You can buy something called Kool Aid: cool and soothe forehead patches that ease migraines. You just stick them to your forehead and sleep with it on. You should wake up in the morning, migraine-free.

If you also get them, what symptoms do you get?
How long do they last?
Do you have any strategies to deal with them?
I used to have it really bad. Medication did not help. Here are a few things I did: - stay in a room with no light, not pitch dark but dark - the temperature around you must be comfortable, excessive heat can trigger migraine - do whatever it takes to put yourselves to sleep. You will feel better when you wake up.

I get them sometimes.. I usually take a stronger NSAID and maybe Tylenol with it if the NSAID doesn't work.
I usually get nauseous, can't really move around.. can't lay comfortably either.. nothing helps usually. Can't look at anything bright, can't go outside...
Nowadays I seem to mostly get these weird flashes and twinges of pain without it developing into a full-blown migraine. I'm not sure if it's regular exercise that has helped, as it's one of the few things that changed over the last 2 years... Plus changing jobs to something less stressful on my mind and body lol
Other than that, my headaches a lot of times are coming from my neck or jaw.. sometimes allergies. Migraines are way less often.

I sometimes get flashes of light ahead of a migraine, so I learned that if I took a good dose of pain reliever when those lights came, I would actually miss the headache part.
Other times, I just get a really bad headache without lights, and it won't go away with normal amounts of pain reliever and I have to take a bit extra. I should really lay down when that happens, but I think I'm too stubborn and just want to read or use the computer still. It could actually be that those times are when I've already had too much of screens and reading, or too much noise?
Only once has it been bad enough to make me nauseous, and that was years ago. I do my best now to keep up with taking pain relievers to "get ahead of the pain."
In the last 15 years or so, I have started getting the odd migraine light formation in the corner of my eyes. I always take two paracetamol, and it has never got any further than that. I am certainly not curious enough to see how bad it might get. Serious migraines do not sound like something I wish to try.
