Over the last 30 years, there are three times I haven't given out candy...2021, 2020 and one other year. I look forward to doing it this year.
The concrete contractors wanted to start this week or next. I told them, "No way!" Fresh concrete + cars parked on street + Halloween = DISASTER! Even if they didn't pour the concrete beforehand, navigating to my front door would be dangerous.
These days most parents take their children rounds to their friends houses for trick or treat. Sometimes others who have a show of pumpkins outside. That is the main reason we don't get any now the kids have grown and flown. The last I remember were teenagers, but they were Ok and got their treats.
There is no Halloween celebration here its not a Dutch thing. But on Nov 11 we have St Martin. The children walk through the neighborhood with lanterns, they knock on doors singing songs and asking for candy or fruit..
