As Jen has already announced. The forum is shutting down at the end of the year.

I had happy memories of that place. It was never busy enough for me, but I did manage to get second place for a few thousand forum posts. No surprise there eh?

It was starting to falter notably, when Martin re-vamped, but it took a while, and most everyone had wandered off by the time it returned.

Anyway, I have messaged Martin, and added my thanks on the forum here:

I was a loyal member of Female Forum, but I haven't used it for two years: or something like that. I also remember Handbag.com and Cosmopolitan Magazine forums. I LOVED those websites.

It is a shame but things change and that's the way of the Internet.

I will try to pop in.. I gave up a while back because of constant security alerts sometimes 2000 a day.

But FF was the first forum where I felt valued and heard, it was a place I had online friends who were involved in what each other had to say and I know that the ladies who were there did help each other and a few newcomers who were going through really bad times in their lives.

It was a great community, not without a faults but on the whole a good place to be..

( I did ,manage to log in and post just.... as I pressed send the screen filled with security warnings )

Yes I was , and it was great then but it closed for the re-vamp and lost a lot of members, from then on it was down hill, and as I just posted I got a whole load of security alerts again that lock me out of the site instantly..

It still seems a little dodgy as I got error messages when I posted a short while ago but it posted Ok.

The trouble is that other system upgrades can make re-vamps essential. It's difficult making an old setup work for everyone, especially with some of the more modern technology. I was amazed when I tried an old website setup that I wrote in the early 2000's with the Windows 10 when I first got it. It worked perfectly but it was a very simple setup adhering religiously to standards. Many sites and software cut corners to get features or work better but it can be a minefield in maintenance.

Well, I guess you can all try to contact some of the old members on there that didn't already make their way here... maybe you'll see them again. I wonder if Martin would be interested in sending out messages to all members to come here so they have somewhere to go once it is gone.

I know we hoped the same for some of our old WOF people, too... but a lot of them also didn't return even after buying the domain from the old site to make it easier to find us.... Some people just move on to other things.

I just logged in, changed my address, changed my password, logged out and never came back.

plus: it took me 7 whole days to be aproved

it was a good site, I reccon, but not without it's issues

A shame. But we all said our goodbyes and I hope that Martin had a little comfort in reading them and knowing that his forum made a welcoming and friendly place on the internet for us.
