We're nearing the end of the rain. It has been here all week so far. Lots of flooding throughout the state, but luckily the "creek" next to our house didn't flood this time... phew!
Over here we have to pay extra insurance if we are near water.
We're not in a flood plain or at risk, so it's not mandatory for us. It's a man-made creek, so it's just where the storm water flows from the street and gutters of nearby houses, and then it eventually ends up in a real creek that isn't near our house. We had a 10-year flood event last year, and it was a doozy, but it still didn't reach our house at least.
We had a severe thunderstorm with 70 mph winds. It was pretty bad, but we made it out okay. Our power was out for about 6 hours... which is close to the cut off for refrigerator food safety. We lucked out with that because food is limited here, and I would not be able to restock most of it.

Heather, it sounds like the last couple of days here. Glad you got your power back on. I am surprised to hear that food is limited there. We aren't having any problems here right now.

We just had a lot of hoarders who ruined it for everyone lol we are only allowed so many of items now to try to prevent the hoarders, but then a lot of stuff isn't in stock anyway. It's definitely not fun!

You do know to wrap them up when the power goes off?

We have hoarders here too but it seems that the hoarding, for the most part, has slowed.
