Sundays can be a bit exhausting. Luckily I can prepare a relaxed lunch after coming back from the shopping then sleep all afternoon if I need. Preparing food in a busy household is something you have to pick up with children. These days, even when I am using the oven for a small roast (as I don't need to do big anymore) I can pretty much get things from starting to on the table in an hour or so. My processes are very streamlined and I don't feel the need to follow traditional guidelines or recipes.
I hope you slept well as it is a bit warm overnight at the moment. Look back on your successful endeavours.
I asked OH yesterday why we do this to ourselves..
I made cooked breakfast something I only do on Sundays. Then there was a light lunch and for dinner I made lamb with roast potatos and beans and baby glazed carrots. Plus a plum crumble for afters..
The only Sunday job I didnt do was making the bread as we still had some buns left and I want to use those before making anything fresh.
We did sit around between times drinking lemonade and watching TV but its still a long day in the kitchen ..
Christmas is worse I think half the female population hardly even notice its Christmas with all the cooking they are expected to do.
I cook randomly throughout the week, but weekends I am more likely to at least make a nice breakfast... only if I feel up to it. I try to be lazy on the weekends a bit more.

Weekends are made for relaxing: although not if you work in a shop! Still, if you're working 9 to 5 - whether home or the workplace - your weekends should be enjoyable and relaxing. Having time to re-charge your batteries makes sense.
This Sunday I only have to do the roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings: they go down a treat. AND homemade Yorkshire puddings are so much nicer than shop-bought. If you like these, I'd advise making them yourself. It is easy and quick to do.
Enjoy your Sunday.
But that's the way the world is, James: if you don't look like you deserve that desk, you're not going to get that desk.

Love this. We don't usually spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and I suppose with a tiny kitchen, the size is part of that decision. It's also hard to cook much when you are likely to need to interrupt your food prep with reminders to be decent to each other. (Boys!)
Most things I make take 30 mins or so and don't need a recipe any longer. I even have the muffin recipe memorised since I use it pretty much daily!

My long time in the kitchen today was making two batches of muffins. I can fit one at a time, so I mixed up the second while the first was in the oven.
That's too long on my feet usually, so I take a break and put my feet up before doing much more!
