OKay so yeah i do smoke, yeah i do drink coffee. i know these are major factors in stained teeth but does anyone know how to get teeth whiter? i have tried something called eucryl (sp?) powder and it doesnt work, i vaguly remember a while ago someone used to use bicarb and it apparently worked? the only thing for me is if it doesnt bubble up in my mouth i dont feel like my mouth or teeth are clean haha

You know how to get whiter teeth? Don't smoke or drink coffee
Baking soda is in some of the whitening toothpastes, so I suppose it does have a slight effect on that.
Here's a tip: If you drink fluids that can stain your teeth, then try using a straw. Don't let the liquid touch your teeth. It's a nice trick for keeping your teeth from getting very stained in the first place.
Aside from that, you may want to just go to a dentist and have them whiten them for you. Many at-home things don't work quite as well, and some can even damage your teeth or gums, so be very careful with anything you try on your own.
Don't use any powders, they are all abrasives. They will cut into your enamel.
Milky coffee is less staining than black. If you smoke it is one of the effects that you have to live with. Sooner or later, you will decide to stop, and that will be one of the reasons that you choose.
I don't know if this product is available in the UK or the US, but I use Crest White Strips and I have to say they are VERY effective.
They cost about 60-70$ for the 21 day treatment (that is the kind I use) and after the treatment there are definate results. My teeth were pretty yellow a couple years back so I did two treatments 6 months apart like they recommend and my teeth are whiter. I need to use them again but right now I can't justify that expense.
You can only use them if you don't have any crowns or whatever in your teeth, and they are kind of gross when you use them, but they are worth it.

Just to bump up this thread. With my teeth:
1. I use an electric toothbrush at night 2. A manual toothbrush in the morning 3. I use a whitening toothpaste 4. I had my teeth whitened by the dentist 5. I seldom eat sweets 6. I see the dentist once a year at least
A few tips anyone can use! I'd advise you not try to hide your smile: use the above tips and you'll never be embarrassed about your teeth again. Trying to hide your teeth - and putting your head in the sand - won't make your teeth any whiter. Take my advice above. Yellow teeth are NOT normal.
i don't know if that will happen. i seem to have difficulty getting them. they keep asking why i want new ones. it's like because i can't chew shit with these worn down ones? duh! i went to one of those one day denture places. they fitted them wrong and wanted me to come back in two wks which at the time wasn't feasible.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but my friend doesn't brush her teeth every day: YUCK. I can't tell her I think that, though. I don't get why someone wouldn't brush their teeth: at least once a day. She obviously has no regard or caring for her teeth. The worst thing is, in years to come she'll sorely regret neglecting her teeth. Especially when they all have to be pulled out and dentures fitted.
I don't understand my friend's attitude towards her teeth. It doesn't matter if they're not perfect white but she just does not care.
White and shiny teeth like in toothpaste commercials have been my dream since childhood.
But it doesn't happen that much in real life Various factors prevent our teeth from reaching the whiteness we want. Cigarettes, coffee, and tea are among these factors. I had the same problem as you because I used to drink a lot of coffee and smoke. But don't worry because teeth can still be whitened. As much as lemon baking soda or lemon, apple cider vinegar may seem to work, it can damage sensitive teeth in the long run.

I just brush normally and go for good oral hygene. It is probably too easy to damage your teeth over a period of time. A point to note is that in the adverts they often use contrasts to emphasise white teeth. Maybe black lipstick would prove the point
