I write this because cleaning chemicals have affected my hands: they are red and blotchy. Plus, I have whetlow. I need to always use moistuiser. I have to be careful when washing my hands. I can only use mild soap and warm water.
My hands look awful: and feel awful. Having red, sore hands is horrible. If you're doing the cleaning yourself, always use white cotton gloves underneath your rubber gloves. And soap your hands immediately afterwards. Throw away old rubber gloves, too. Basically, be really careful when using any kind of chemical.

Thank you for your replies: it is appreciated.
If my hands don't improve I may have to buy different - hard wearing, domestic - cleaning gloves. The rubber gloves I use now may be too thin and not hard wearing enough. I'll need seriously thick rubber gloves: with a lining. It is obvious the ones I was using were too thin. Even with cotton gloves beneath them, the cleaning products still got through onto my hands.

The above is the solution.
What is it that you are trying to clean, and what are you using?

I clean my bathroom and kitchen. In both rooms I clean the floor. I do this using Flash liquid. I use bathroom spray and toilet duck. In my kitchen I use a regular anti-bacterial kitchen spray.
I do think I need hard-wearing rubber gloves. Heavy duty type. The marigolds I use must just be too thin. I don't know how, but the chemicals go through the gloves. Which - in turn - leave my poor hands sore and red. It is just a case of upping my game, glove-wise.

For the floor I use a steamer, it just has water in it.
For all worktops unless they have had raw eggs, or meat on them I use vinegar spray. It's just cheap white vinegar.
I use a little toilet duck about once a fortnight for the toilet.
I have concerns over so many chemicals getting into the water system. It is particularly difficult to remove liquid pollution like bleaches.
I saw first hand how deadly bleach is. My ex was lavish with bleach, and when we moved to a house with a septic tank. We found it was backing up every few months. Asking around it seems that septic tanks never need emptying, IF, you don't kill off the natural fauna with bleach.
Removing chemicals from our sewers is why we have to pay more for sewerage than we do for the water that comes to our house.
The less chemicals the better when cleaning but sometimes you do m=ned them for really heavy jobs. i use a lot of citrus based products for everyday cleaning.
I mostly use diluted white vinegar because I like the way it works. It's not good for natural materials like stone and wood, though. In the bathroom I use regular cleaning products but nothing that would damage the skin on my hands. I have never had that experience before.
It's seldom that I use bleach as it's too strong. I prefer to clean little and often so things don't build up too much.
I can't use bleach at all. It gives me a headache, and I become lightheaded. My mom used to clean the floors and bathrooms with it, and I'd have to lock myself away until she was done lol I just use a steam mop for tile... and then natural cleaning products as much as I can otherwise. Sometimes peroxide cleaners are okay!
I have to test out different ones to see if I can handle them before I go crazy with them. Even some of the natural ones have scents that I can't handle. It's a challenge!

I don't know what a "whetlow" is but I highly recommend rubber gloves whenever using any cleaners if you're that sensative. Then use a non allergenic hand soap. Unless you have a latex allergy. Rubber gloves need to be checked frequently for small holes that happen. A latex allergy will cause your hands to look awful. I was getting blistery little bumps and then horrendous eczema. I can use the rubber gloves to do dishes and clean at home but the hospital latex gloves I can not. Fortunately we switched to vinyl and some other kind. We don't use latex ones anymore at all. I also can't use the vinyl ones with the powder in them either.
If you're using bleach please don't ever use that without gloves.

I bought myself a pair of thick, black rubber cleaning gloves yesterday. They should protect my hands very well. They weren't too expensive, either.
My hands HAVE healed - due to my using Zerobase - but I want to prevent them getting to the state they had been in. Oh: I also gave myself a manicure last night, using a bronze glitter colour.
