Fasting facts: is the 5:2 diet too good to be true?
From claims that fasting makes you thin and feeds the brain to the suggestion that it can even reboot the immune system, Amy Fleming looks at the scientific evidence for restricted eating.
Pfft, how dare they insult me for not knowing about this.
I only heard of it a few months back, but I never read diet pages as I reckon they are rubbish. I am particularly glad that I didn't read about the 5:2 diet.
Because
I would have never started it. As I have said before I have 5 day weekends and two days working. For two years now I have been controlling my weight sucessfully by eating less on the two working days, happily unaware I was dieting.
I guess I fast about 12 hours every day... How do I do it? By not eating right before bed, sleeping, and then waiting an hour before I eat after waking up =p
When I first started losing weight, something that helped me was not eating as much on the days I work. I would still eat, but small portions. Even today I do this, and it seems to be working.
I read an article today about how you should work out right when you wake up in order to burn off more fat, then you eat your breakfast! I'd rather do that than fast, I think, if I specifically wanted to lose weight.
Getting dressed, letting the dog out in the garden, and feeding her is a good start to the day. Though I have no idea how many calories that burns off.
Of course I always follow so much exercise with my breakfast.
I don't know about exercising before you eat. I can't go to the gym without eating something because I don't have as much energy to do what I should be doing. My pre-workout breakfast is normally peanut butter toast, for that extra protein. Also, you should have protein anyway before you work out because it helps to build muscle. Muscle helps you burn more calories. It's lovely.
Protein is important, yes! I think you can eat it pre or post workout, though, right?
I probably would never actually work out right when I wake up, but if I had to choose between fasting and working out first thing in the morning, then I'd go with the latter.
I wake up feeling light-headed and winded pretty often, so I don't think I should ever do anything that would make that worse lol
A lot of times I eat before and after I exercise, but healthy food. Like I might have peanut butter toast pre-workout and a hard boiled egg post work out. It's important to listen to your body when you exercise. I find when I feed myself extra food on the days I work out (so long as it is HEALTHY food like chicken breasts, eggs, spinach) I see more results.

How are the tummy rips doing?
Getting them back. Didn't go to the gym again this week due to issues and a snowstorm. But I'm eating well so there is that.

If I'm on campus I run every weekday morning.
I do my Karate classes usually only once a week.
In a way, I can eat whatever.
I'm like @ 105-110
So, I watch what I eat, more for maintenance than weight loss.
