Lazy coworkers. I'm tired of picking up other people's slack. They purposely do it to get overtime. But I want to leave on time!
It didn't take me long to learn how comparatively stress free being self employed and working alone really is. It's a doddle.
Working with others brings so many more complications into life, even those colleagues that you like and enjoy affect the actual work process, and allowances are always having to be made.

Too true! I find that everyone does things differently and I'm maybe more different than most . My job was mostly working alone though so I could get away from it all for a while (at least until they gave us mobile phones )
The number of road closures and diversions on the roads locally. I ended up going down one yesterday which, although poor the last time I travelled down it, was little more than a cart track in one place because the road surface had disintegrated. They cannot blame the ice either as there have been no frosts

There are two large holes right outside my driveway. Our roads are pretty bad here too.

I think that it's like motor vehicles themselves. If they get poor maintenance over the years then there will be failures. It's just that they are all now failing at once. Here is some info - Potholes .
One of my gripes is that if you have a defective vehicle then you are liable to a fine, at the least but if the road is defective, causing in effect the same result, there is no similar liability

Those are remarkable stats, and the potholes have got a lot worse since 2022.

It's so bad now that I would dread having to drive out at night and don't as far as I can. As much as I don't wish it it's time someone of note had a nasty accident and has the money to really take someone to court. Many roads are not fit for purpose and the councils (and ultmately the government) are corporately negligent.

I have noticed that we don't have many pot holes here. I suspect it is because we don't get freezing and thawing weather here which can do a lot of damage to road surfaces. We do however get plenty of cracks from the heat of the sun.

Apparently, they are only negligent if they knew that the pothole was there and they had enough time to fix it before the claimant sustained damage.
Thus you have to prove that they already knew, and if you were the one who reported it: why didn't you drive around it?

Pot holes tend to be caused by heavy vehicle primarily, rather than temperatures, apparently. One of the worst offenders are buses. It seems that one bus can do more damage to the roads than if every passenger was to drive their own cars.

Clever eh?
I am well aware of that and know people who have had difficulty with the council dragging their feet over payment.
Like the road I went down the other day, I imagine you have been down lots of those little country lanes which, although fairly quiet so you can drive down the center of the road avoiding the long lines of potholes on either side, you dread ever meeting a juggenaught coming in the other direction, or even a car, as it often happens at a dodgy spot. I don't know how the council can fail to know about them. Lack of due diligence! They maybe could have the option of erecting temporary signs or resticting use to smaller vehicles but they don't. That to me is negligence
