I get scam calls everyday. I am shoicked when a day goes by that I don't get one. At least it seems that way.
I only answer the phone if I know the caller, or I am waiting for someone. Other than that, if they want me, they will leave a message.
I get far less these days as I always use my mobile number for online things and avoid giving the landline number anywhere, if possible. I don't use the phone much so don't get many calls. My mobile is virtually always off and anything important leaves a message. That way I don't seem to get on any of these lists for scammers as much as others.
I have my phone on silent when driving. Yes I have Bluetooth in the car but the last thing I want is some stupid lottery ticket salesman ringing me while I'm trying to negotiate a junction.

I give out my landline when asked for a phone number, unless they specify a mobile number. That eliminates a bunch of unwanted texts.
Once, when hubby and I signed into Dad's facility separately, I entered my landline number. He entered his cell number. After he signed out, he received a text, asking how his visit was. I never received one. LOL
It's my experience that we get far more scammers here on landlines rather than mobile. I think one reason is that it's far easier for the scammers to manipulate the system, as well as people. Many people do answer a landline and I imagine a larger proportion of them would be vulnerable people, such as elderly and mentally disadvantaged, who would have problems with the more complex mobile phones. On a mobile an unwanted text is irritating but you do have time to read and digest it whereas someone on a voice call requires either hanging up or a prompt answer and some scammers are very good with their words.
I have said before, and will say again. The phone companies could easily reduce much of the problem but they don't wish to as they gain revenue from the scammers. On a slightly different note though I am still getting confused in that I have two different email addresses from major providers. On one I get dozens of scam mail and on the other I get virtually none. I have not changed settings on either. Most of the rubbish is filtered out but it does confuse me
slow internet is something I can seriously not do. it took me an hour to connect to this forum today. I'm so glad I don't use it for anything like confrence calls

I hate slow internet too but my slowness today was down to the old bugbear of Windows updating itself. It sneaks it in when you don't want it and hogs resources. I get tempted continuously to change over to Linux totally but having a Windows computer has it's advantages occasionally, if only to burn Bill Gates's ears as I curse.
Racial bias on TV, now even being applied to fun quiz shows.
Where this ?
You may not agree but last night I noticed a section on 'Pointless' in which the topic was famous black people. I know I have mentioned things like this before and it is controversial but It's extremly irritating to have the subject rammed down my throat continuously even in entertainment. I would see no problem if it were just famous people and they happened to be black but to specify is discriminatory.
I believe that the obvious discrimination, whether good or bad, will backfire in the end and is yet another stress raiser in society.

Ok, I didnt see pointless last night. I do agree somewhat that there is a limit to how far positive discrimination can go before it swings too far, much as we had discussed in the news thread re , sexual assualt allegations. Go too far in any way and it simply causes more problems than it solves. With pointless I've seen questions such as famous red heads, famous women , famous people with the name Alex etc so one could argue that it was an extension of that line but I see your point.

Not altogether sure about where I stand on this.
I am not obsessed by labels, and am happy to let people choose their own, but they are useful as a broad brush.
I wish that pro boards would update their ignore feature, so that if you ignored a member, you actually ignored them. right now, all you can do is ignore their private messages. I'd like it so they couldn't quote on my posts, like my posts, tag me, and I didn't have to see their 50 thousand threads per second.
I was really annoyed last night as I settled in bed. I could just here the tone of a flying mosquito. I just had to get up again and sort it out, which I did. Then a quick scan round revealed another one. It escaped into the upstairs area and I took around 20 minuyes in the end before I had completely neutralised the mosquito problem and managed to settle. I soon went to sleep though and noticed this morning that I had overslept by 20 minutes to compensate

Going to take a picture and finding out you forgot to put the memory stick in...
We used to have a camera that did not tell you when it was full. We lost a whole morning of snow, and ice, pics of our favourite walk. Ones we have never been able to replicate.
