This will be awesome if it works. The number of patients I have heard over the years telling me how severe back pain has ruined thier lives doesn't bear thinking of...
I was thinking I'll probably want something like that if my back worsens. I sure don't want to have surgery that could make my back even less flexible.. but this looks promising!
Things have changed a lot! Quite a few years ago now when our department was more into research I remember trying out a companies system in which electrodes were fixed to my head and I had to control something, probably by simple switches. I don't remember much about it except that it was not easy but it did work to some extent.

Science IS catching up with science fiction.
I've written science fiction short stories and some of my predictions have come true! There is an element of truth when it comes to science fiction: perhaps they are visions of the future.

I have a theory which states that any logical science fiction invention can actually be implemented. We only need to persue the technology in the right direction.
Another thing I came across in the last few days which made me think though was with regard to aeroplanes. I was glancing at an article on a 1930's airliner. In this the writer commented that in those times the evolution of aeroplane technology in a short time was very great. He contrasted that with the fact that, if you travel now, you will still probably be travelling in the same aeroplane that you did five years ago.
Maybe it's manufacturing processes which are the main drive of technology?

Manufacturing processes are vital to implementing scientific theories into technology.
In our 21st century we have so many technological applications: we have access to electronics and gadgets that make life much, much easier. And I do believe we owe all this to our scientists and engineers throughout human history.

Much of it is down to greed. They want to make a bigger profit, so they design bigger and better....

Unfortunately greed does drive many companies. But that is just the way of things. I guess I just accept that companies are there to make a profit through their services. And they only like customers who pay their bills.
It's amazing what they come up with but just one question. Your introducing something foreign to an open wound. Could that create an opportunity for an infection to occur?

Probably not if it's sterile or something bacteria wouldn't grow on to begin with. I think it will be sitting on top for the most part just to sense some of the stuff released by bacteria, and I'm guessing they still cover the wound somehow and keep it very clean. If it was going inside and leaving the wound wide open to anything that could be floating in the air, then I'd say yes for sure.
There are also stitches that change color to show infections... a lot of neat stuff coming out!
One of our new commercial tenants is an engineering start-up doing robotic, I have an outstanding lunch appointment with the CEO. I might try to hook him up with my single cousin ...

Yes, but we're building everywhere and just continue to cut down trees, so there won't be enough plants to save us at this point probably lol
This might be a little surprising.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the forest growth rate in the US has more than quadrupled between today and 1920. The majority of this growth has been happening on the East Coast, where the number of trees in the area has doubled within the last 70 years.

That's good if we don't ever touch those forests!
The deforestation is occurring in greater numbers in the countries that are a little further behind us industrially, so I don't know if we can plant enough to save the entire planet xD It also may not make up for the areas we clear out entirely for new developments still... it's really hard to make up for the large older trees being cut down, as they're the best at what they do. Even just in my area they will cut down hundreds of older trees to put in 30 homes, and then they will plant one tree here and there throughout the community. Pretty terrible =/

Heather, I know what you mean. Around central Florida the growth is out of control with thousands of houses going up just in my area. No planning at all, just the bottom line is all they are worried about. What amazes me is they continue to approve all this development.

We NEED our trees: the planet needs its trees. We can't afford to destroy our planet by cutting down so many forests, woods and rainforests. I wrote a poem about it "Did You Know The Word Earth Is An Anagram Of Heart?". That poem speaks volumes about what we're doing to our planet for profit.
If we carry on cutting down our trees, we'll have nothing left: we'd have destroyed ourselves.

This week, technology was not my friend. Earlier this week, I had to re-enter some contacts in my iPhone. Thursday, a Win10 update went horribly wrong. I still don't know exactly what happened or how it was repaired.
I noticed the Update icon on my taskbar, indicating an update was installed and restart required. When I entered my PIN after reboot, I got a blank screen and a mouse pointer. After trying a couple more times, I conducted several successful system tests. Windows Repair function didn't work, either. I was able to back up some resident files (like browser favorites and .PSTs) and system settings. Luckily, all of my important files are on the NAS, so I required only 5 GB of space. (In case I needed to reinstall Win10.)
So, when it got to the point of restoring to a previous state, it requested the password for my hotmail account. Luckily, I installed the app for my Password vault on my iPhone. So, I retrieved it there, only to be met with "invalid password" several times. WTF?! I successfully tested the password by accessing my hotmail account on the iPhone. WTF?! Of course, MS sent an authorization code to my Yahoo! account, so I had to sign into that one as well. (Earlier that day, I told a coworker I hardly used email on my phone. Ironic, huh?)
Somewhere/somehow/sometime through this entire process, I ended up having to change my PIN as well. (??) At no time did I notice that Windows reverted...it usually tells you what it's doing. I was eventually able to get to my Windows Desktop and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I checked for updates and installed the latest one without issue.
...still scratching my head. Maybe a a bit flipped its lid.

I am gald it is now sorted Crystal. That sort of thing does not sound unusual, in my experience.
That sort of thing has put me off Windows completely although I still have one computer which uses it. I have found that updates sometimes seem to lock up and I leave the computer for an hour or so and come back to find it has updated Ok. We have an old desktop which had Vista so not updatable without cost to Windows 10. I installed Linux and although it has played up occasionally, mainly due to it's hardware failing, I have found that it is usually quicker to re-install Linux than Windows takes to do it's routine updates.
Another small laptop I have has only 32GB of hard disk. It became almost impossible to update it because of the limited disk space as Windows requires a big C: drive due to it's limited disk handling (It's apparently now 32GB reserved for Windows updates without anything else). I installed Linux easily and use mini USB sticks and SD card to get sufficient memory. With Linux the software organisation can be distributed whereas Windows is restrictive. The Linux actually runs faster too and updates are suggested not controlled by the provider(s).
I don't update windows much... because sometimes updates don't work well. It's similar to buying a new video game... bug fixes don't come out until later, and I don't want to be the tester
